    Re: .NET dead or alive?

Mono is certainly good when embedded, because one basically gets access to the whole .NET library (or the parts of it which are exposed). If you only need to expose certain functions to C# from C++...

    Re: .NET dead or alive?

No (Short answer, because it is very easy to find out why it won't end any time soon. I expect it to be alive at least for a lifetime :D).

There is so much cheap hosting for PHP, that it is hard...

    Re: .NET dead or alive?

If you don't mind, I may share some experience I had with XNA and 3D stuff.

I wrote a Tetris game with XNA once. 2D "board" with pieces in 3D environment. Thing is, most of the time was spent...

    Re: .NET dead or alive?

The guys who worked on C# and .NET did a great job of making both the language and the framework painless to use. Productivity working with C# and Visual Studio is amazing, portability is great (Mono...

Re: Why Ubuntu is Anoying for My Business

Great thing to do. How do you test IE6, IE7, and IE8 browsers on Windows? You need separate windows instalation (or virtual machine) anyway, just to test on older IE.

    [ubuntu] Re: 8 Bad sectors

Well, no need to panic, especially if you don't keep very important stuff on it. However, if you do, you should not wait until you get damaged mp3 files, half-blanked images, missing files, funny...

Re: Why Ubuntu is Anoying for My Business

You said it in such a way like you actually use C++ for web development. Those developers that need to use ActionScript, can stay on windows machines.

Same thing applies: make sure developers are...

Re: Why Ubuntu is Anoying for My Business

Don't use Ubuntu on those computers that need such monstrosities as Visual Studio or Dreamweaver.

Let me guess: web development, ASP.NET?

Migration path: change your business! << sounds funny,...

  17. [ubuntu] Re: Newbie - installing software/using GTK and "make"

Usually you need to look for packages which end with "-dev". And since they are libraries, they also may start with "lib". So I went into synaptic and done a search for "gtk+". The closest I could...
  18. [ubuntu] Re: Newbie - installing software/using GTK and "make"

  19. [ubuntu] Re: Newbie - installing software/using GTK and "make"

    Ok then.

I suggest you to Read About it Here.

  20. [ubuntu] Re: Newbie - installing software/using GTK and "make"

You need sudo when installing into system. I suggest not to. However, if you must, install into /opt directory.
  21. [ubuntu] Re: Newbie - installing software/using GTK and "make"

If this program is packaged the standard way, you will need to:

    apt-get install build-essential

go to the directory of your program and execute...
