[ubuntu] Re: Using Live CD to recover

Oz: Thanks. It's good that at least I can back up, but it's a shame my drive is dead. I wish I could just keep using my ubuntu with a bad drive, haha.

Jer: Yeh, I was in Disc Utility when I read...

[ubuntu] Re: Using Live CD to recover

I remember the programs that crashed, now:

It was MoBloquer (MoBlock front end) and Transmission.
I was DL'ing a large file and it kept getting slow at the end, so I tried moving the file and...

[ubuntu] Using Live CD to recover

I'm not at all sure what happened, but now Ubuntu won't boot.

A program just froze (as programs often do), so I shut down and rebooted, only to find pages and pages of gibberish about ATA sectors...

[ubuntu] Re: External Drives Not Mounting or showing up

I think the behaviour started after some incident with my flash drive. I did something that stopped it from working on my laptop. It may have been something like just removing without safely removing...

[ubuntu] External Drives Not Mounting or showing up

    Karmic 9.10 on a Acer 5920G laptop.

External drives were fine not long ago, but recently they don't show up.

When I plug one in, nothing happens.

"lsusb" output shows that it's plugged in...

[ubuntu] Re: Translate GUI actions to CL code?

It's a shame that there's no way to do this. I got the idea from working with VBA in Microsoft Excel. You could do a "Record Macro" and then perform whatever actions you wanted and then click "Stop"...
