Last time I installed Kubuntu, I went through it a little fast and selected the option to use encrypted LVM on the whole disk.
Time has passed, it's time to upgrade once again, and I'd like to do...
I've tried a few different USB ports. Drives are spinning when the power is connected.
Yep, using the included external power source.
It does not show up in gparted. Also, the drive is already formatted.
Hello all,
I recently bought a USB 3.0 to SATA III & SSD Adapter so that I can transfer some data from an old hard drive (previously the /home drive of an Ubuntu install) to a new machine.

Auto restarts are often caused by overheating. The SMART test results you posted have a temperature reading of 99 C / 210 F, which is really hot. Are you sure your fans and other cooling elements...
Thanks TheFu, that link was helpful. I used the network.trr.excluded-domains setting to add exceptions for the sites I want to block, and everything else continues to use DNS over HTTP.
I have a custom hosts file that blocks some time-wasting websites. I use cron to switch it to /etc/hosts at certain times during the day, and then to set the hosts file back to normal during other...

In most music managers on Ubuntu, you can just highlight the tracks you want and drag them over to the iPod icon in the sidebar.
+1. This is much easier, and you'll get automatic updates.
1) What was the program you installed that caused the problem with Windows? It sounds like something was preventing Windows from shutting down properly.
2) What did you do when you tried to...
Have you tried booting a live CD or USB to see if that will load?
Is this a dual boot with Windows 8?
I've been using Banshee for a while, this just started happening the past few weeks.
When I exit Banshee, my CPU usages goes to 100% and stays there. It continues until I manually kill the...
Yes, they are coming from cron. My crontab doesn't have a MAILTO variable, but I assume I can just add one under the SHELL and PATH variables? If I add a MAILTO variable but leave it a blank...
This is kind of an embarrassing problem, because I should know how to fix it myself, but I don't.
I recently set up exim4 on a development server I have running Ubuntu. I set it up to send mail...

Having a problem where our friends complain that our skype video is choppy when we chat with them.
Looking at the resources, I see that skype is using only a small fraction of the upload speed we...
Yeah, there's no way to do this without doing a little coding.
If you want to learn, there's a great tutorial on working with files in php here:

I'd suggest starting with Pitivi or Openshot. Pitivi is probably the simplest of the two, and is included in Ubuntu by default.
That's strange. It almost sounds like it's more of a problem with how your computer is processing the scripting.
Have you tried any other browsers to see if the behavior is the same?
