  1. Re: The "Say Something Positive, Kind or Uplifting" Thread

    "Life's tough, then you die."

Has more positive power when said earnestly by a ten year old!
  2. Re: How many of you completely switched to Linux?

Re: Beans: What they really mean!

No argument from me there. Newness (especially as indicated by an ID) doesn't inherently indicate a lack of knowledge. That said, there are cases where I would trust some "seniority" over a new name....

ubuntuman & Exodist (& maybe others while I slowly compose my response),

I know what you mean about the potential for someone just joining but being truly authoritative, but we're not Slashdot,...

    Re: New Ubuntu blog started

    Big thanks 今幸福!

I'm really not very good at CSS, so I'm sort of learning as I go. But I found a decent looking 3'rd party site that I liked, and have been tweaking since then. More than actually...
  8. Re: How many of you completely switched to Linux?

I've done it before, and am doing it again.

I had to go back to dual booting a little over a year ago when I had course material I couldn't get to run in non-Microsoft, but that's behind me now. I...

    Re: New Ubuntu blog started

Not that it will make a huge difference, but I've blown away my dual boot Vista/Jaunty and gone to a straight Karmic install (it buys me 20+GB on an 80GB drive).

    It's actually gone fairly well...

Re: Beans: What they really mean!

I don't have a problem with how it is now. Though I see your point of view, if it were to remove "bean counts" for any closed or otherwise downwardly mobile threads, there would still be an issue...

Re: Post your .conkyrc files w/ screenshots

PLEASE STICKY THIS THREAD! it's not that I'm really all that interested (though I was very pleased when I found out about Conkey vs running a bunch of glitchy widgets I couldn't make look the way I...

Poll: Re: What kind of mouse do you use?

I cant tell much about mine. the acutal Logitech model number is worn away on the bottom (along with most of the feet...seriously, the hard plastic that surrounds the slippery inserts is gone even!)....
  16. Poll: Re: Which Blog Software do you prefer?

I'm using blogger for my Ubuntu blog and am pretty happy with it. Ashiamed to admit it, but the biggest thing in my selecting it was knowing that it was already part of the Google empire, therefor...
  17. Poll: Re: who else here hates the default theme?

I feel sort of "meh" about the default theme. I always stick with it for about a day when I do an install of a new version.

But I prefer darker, more modern themes. These days I'm using Ubuntu...

  19. Re: Cool applications you use that others might not know of

a +1 for Liferea feedreader (think it was mentioned earlier in the thread).
  20. Re: Can someone PLEASE tell me something?

I can tell you for a fact that you should thank your stars that my job is unionised. If it wasn't the companies in my industry would abuse the laws even worse. If someone in my position makes a...
  21. [ubuntu] Re: How do I install Project Diaspora?

Sort of a newb question from me then (I don't compile my own stuff often, and when I do I'm pretty much just following someone-else-helpfull's paint by numbers), if I install the "official versions"...

    Re: New Ubuntu blog started

I've made a few adjustments now. Switched some graphics and altered colours, so I think it's looking less template-like.

    Re: New Ubuntu blog started

That icon set is pretty slick. You should be able to download it directly here (gnome-look). I'll adjust the link I'm using on the Blog to reflect that.

It's worth looking at mattahan's other...
