Hello and sorry for being a bit off-topic.
@Vertical you have opened too many threads in too many different places for Unity 7 continuation. I'm a supporter and I want to contribute but I cannot...
That's correct. Some developers told me (IRC) the proposed repos should remain disabled during the development cycle.
Me too. Although "dist-upgrade" needs attention because it can remove software. First read, then hit Y(es) or N(o).
However OP has right, others have right also.
There are some bugs in 16.04...
I agree with SeijiSensei,
but first would be better to completely uninstall any kind of Nvidia binary you have installed until now.
sudo apt-get remove --purge nvidia-*
sudo rm...
So, I guess we are waiting for an update of "pepperflashplugin-nonfree" in trusty.
Or,
if someone is in hurry, he can do the same thing (of what this package does) manually.
Downloading...
For simple tasks I would suggest Openshot (it is available through Software Center)
For more advanced tasks Kdenlive in a very good video editor.
Also, some users prefer Blender (the 3D...
As far as I know,
for Chromium there is a package in Official Ubuntu repositories(multiverse) named "pepperflashplugin-nonfree" that it downloads and integrates the Google Chrome(stable) Flash...
Hello,
this problem is quite complicated for me and given that my English are not good enough, I will try to describe it as best as I can but bear with me and ask for any info I might miss writing...
If you have decided to use systemd as PID 1, please take the time to report bugs(if any).
Tag them with #systemd-boot and prefix the title with [systemd] so we can track them down easily, here →...
Yes. I guess lot of these "temporary glitches" will come in future. Almost always I've had such glitches in development branch.
The PPA actually is for 14.04, but you can add it to 14.10 (manually) as well. There will be no PPA for Utopic as far as Martin told me, the systemd packages will be uploaded directly to Official...
Ok, I think a moderation action is needed here. I didn't see this thread http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2219271 . If someone merge above post, would be nice.
Thanks (and sorry for...
In case you don't know it already, the new release 14.10 will be (code)named : Utopic Unicorn. The repositories are open for anyone wants to test the new development branch. In current state you can...
You understand it correctly. The script 30_os-prober scans for other operating systems and add them to grub configuration file grub.cfg. You can find (and read) the script inside /etc/grub.d/...
You can use any driver you want. Any driver that works best for you. If you play games (e.g. on steam) you should use the nvidia driver rather nouveau. If you don't play Steam games nouveau will work...
If you can boot into Ubuntu without problem, you can try to reconfigure grub like this
sudo dpkg-reconfigure grub-pc
and re-install os-prober
sudo apt-get install --reinstall os-prober
I...
Do you have any conky instance running ?
What is your graphics card model ? Drivers ? and if you mentioned the Ubuntu version you have this problem, would be helpful.
Thanks
Ok, that was easy enough.. haha
sudo apt-get install --reinstall unity-scope-home #this also pulled some other two packages
everything is up and running again :)
Ok, I made the "big step" and I upgraded from Ubuntu 13.04 to 14.04 directly through /etc/apt/sources.list file. Big upgrade procedure here as I have too many packages in this installation (dev...
That is exactly what I did. Specifically I installed my preferred GRUB with this command
sudo grub-install --recheck /dev/sda
Probably is what @kansasnoob says here.
Yes that is correct.
This is the second time. First time I wasn't sure, but now I think I am.
Problem
Every time when a new version of grub is installed through the update procedure (sudo apt-get update; sudo...
Also it would be a good idea to remove completely LibreOffice before the installation of openoffice.org.
And here the same. :)
There is an open bug that I think is related to the problem of yours.
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/indicator-keyboard/+bug/1218322
You can ignore it until January 2014 when 13.04 reaches EOL (End Of Life). Then you must upgrade in order for you to have a supported version of Ubuntu. :)
