Well, simply using the Files app, dragging and dropping file anywhere else does not work. :(
Just found the solution:
...
I have just installed (fresh install) Ubuntu 20.04 on my laptop.
Surprise: I can't drag and drop to any folder, be it a file or another folder.
The only solution is to copy a file or a folder,...
I have an Asus laptop G750JZ with the following specs:
i7 Intel® Core™ i7-4710HQ CPU @ 2.50GHz × 8
RAM 16 Gb
GeForce GTX 880M/PCIe/SSE2

I have been running a dual-boot...
Guess what?
Yes I did!
Thanks for your help Tea for One :)
Well, I just did it.
Fresh install of 20.04 over my old 18.04 LTS that was dual booting with Win10.
20.04 erased my old version and left Win10 as it was.
Could not be simpler!
My dual boot still...
Yes, I do.
Thanks for your answer :), but I do not want to upgrade. I want to make a fresh install and just keep Win10 as is.
Rather than upgrading from 18.04 LTS to 20.04 LTS, I am thinking of doing a fresh install of 20.04
I currently have 18.04 LTS installed alongside Win10.
My question is: can I just launch the...
Thanks again for your help.
I eventually settled for "nofail".
This was suggested to me by a fellow Linux user.
"no fail" did the trick.
However, I stuck to the mount entries you suggested:...
Many thanks for your answer and suggestion.
However, when my NAS is switched off, boot time remains exactly the same: too long :(
When I start my Intel NUC and my NAS is not connected to the netword (is switched off), booting Ubuntu takes well over one minute.
When my NAS is connected, booting takes about 10 secs after which...
OK. Let me add something new to my post (although I did not get any answers).
Everything works fine now.
It is still a mystery why the above-mentioned problem arose, and why after a few days it...
I have just done a fresh install of Windows 10 and Ubuntu 18.04 LTS in dual boot on a Intel NUC8i7BEH which I equipped with 16Gb DDR4 RAM and a 500Gb NVM SSD.
The good news is, everything works...
Sounds so simple when you know!
Both systems are in UEFI mode. ESP was not reformatted.
Thanks to you, I got my Bionic back, along with *******.
Many thanks! :D
I have just done something very stupid: erasing Windows by mistake.
Please do not ask me the whys and wherefores. I already feel stupid enough.
I have (had!) a laptop with dual boot Win 10/Ubuntu...
That is what I will do.
It ain't brocken.
I won't fix it.
And no, I did not install Ubuntu with Secure Boot enabled. I did not even know this was possible . I will bear that in mind for...
I have successfully installed 14.04 on an Asus G750 JZ.
Now the installation is complete and my dual boot works without a hiccup, should I put secure boot back on?
If I do, or if I do not, what do...
This worked!

Add "acpi_osi" at the end of GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash" in /etc/default/grub
which...
Worked for me too.
Many thanks!
I have.
But I do not have the solution.
I did the same on my G750JZ and tried everything in terms of editing grub with the backlight vendor commands or making a xorg config file, to no avail.
got it!

I am a bit confused.
The Chinese character above 壁 means "wall" and is read "kabe". I do not think that it has anything to do with an emoticon.
The last three characters チラッ are katanata...
Many thanks Guido.
That indeed did the trick!
