Do you know how much memory you have? and the hard drive capacity?
it's highly unlikely that a modern operating system like Ubuntu 12.10 will install & run on a 15 year old computer.
If you could post the specs of the computer in question this could be verified....
Just see if your problem is the same as mine with 12.10.
If I restart my computer, I lose wireless connection totally.
But if I shut the computer down & switch back on, wireless is fine.
Stab in...
try:
sudo apt-get install ttf-mscorefonts-installer
Not sure there's a linux equivalent. But if you want a comprehensive Bible search/study tool, try this online site.
You can change the site language in the top right hand corner, and there's...
Do you mean Bible as in the book? Or some program that you have?
Do you have a windows disc?
If so you must be able to re-install windows, all you need to do is make sure all your partitions are ntfs.
Change your sda4 partition from ext4 to ntfs, using gparted...
Gparted is a program on your Ubuntu live CD, but the information you have provided is what I was looking for.
The reason you can't re-install windows is because it won't like your sda4 ext4...
Windows is still there don't worry about that.
Lets start again.
1st, please boot into your live CD, open up gparted & take a screenshot of your partition table & post it here.
Sorry I don't understand your reply, did you use your wubi disc or a fresh disk from the link?
Your windows is ok it's just the mbr that will have been partially overwritten by Ubuntu's grub.
I've never had a disk that hasn't been able to install Grub before.
Did you download the disk from...
Ok go back to using the "something else" box, look at the link in the above post, and scroll down to the box that says "installation type".
What you need to do is highlight the partition you want...

If you download the correct iso from the link I gave you and then follow the tutorial here, you will see how your wubi disc differs from the standard desktop iso, and it might make...
I've watched the whole video, when it came to the installation option, you clicked to "install inside windows", & proceeded to boot back into windows again.
You need to pick the option to either...
I've just watched your video.
What you are trying to do is install Ubuntu from inside Windows (wubi). This doesn't always work well for everyone.
What you may want to do is a proper install using...
But in your last post you said you used Wubi??
If you wish to dual boot you need to download the iso from here:
http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop
What I think mlentink is saying, is that, wubi is not the best way to install Ubuntu.
It is way better to re-partition your hard drive & install it as a dual boot system....
Actually, this has been an object lesson in why not to add 3rd party ppas to your system.
It was the libreoffice ppa that was screwing everything up, even stopping me reinstalling the official...
Actually i'm now having this problem even trying to install the libreoffice from the standard repos. In a terminal i get the message:
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you...
Kubuntu 12.04.

Is anyone else having a problem updating libreoffice from this ppa?

12 packages keep being held back with either upgrade or dist-upgrade.
Problem solved. All has to do with "Dual pass encoding". I always use this in Devede, to improve the conversion quality.
While this works with .avi files, with .mp4 files on the second pass, it...
Using Devede to convert .avi files to iso, everything works fine.
But converting .mp4 files to iso, I get the above message everytime.
Ironically using Devede in windows 7 works fine.
Anyone know...
Tried it yesterday, seems good other than, for some reason it wont connect to my wireless network. It sees my network, but when I try to connect after entering my wpa password, the icon just spins...
