  1. [ubuntu] Re: Stuck at laptop-detect when installing Oneiric

I found a workaround for this. I used the alternative installer and did a text-based install. Everything worked fine. The text-based installer is quite nice actually.

  3. [ubuntu] Stuck at laptop-detect when installing Oneiric

I'm attempting to install Oneiric Ocelot on my old Toughbook and it gets stuck at:

    log-output -t ubiquity laptop-detect

I've found other users have hit the same thing, with Bug 820485.

    Does...
  4. Re: kindle book reader app (without a kindle)

I also got the Windows Kindle app to work perfectly within Wine. I'm on 11.04 and using the latest version of Wine 1.3, installed from the Ubuntu package manager (apt-get install wine13). Works...

I'm not sure where to post this so I'm posting it here...

    Here's the situation:

[ubuntu] Gnash + Pandora on Natty?

    Hi all,

I'm running Natty Narwhal 64 bit. Everything is great. I'm not installing unfree software, in particular, no Adobe Flash player. I don't trust it, I don't want it, I won't install it.

  8. [gnome] Re: File properties - notes - in Nautilus lost after upgrade to Hardy

Where are these notes stored, anyway? I would like to be able to use them to help with searching and so on. Are they metadata, stored in the filesystem, or (more likely) stored somewhere in a...

[ubuntu] Re: Mounting an ext4 drive on Intrepid

You can do it. I had to do it just now, because I'm backing up an old server onto an external disk and the only external disks I have are ext4.

The trick to it I found is here: mounting ext4 on...

[ubuntu] Re: unbuntu can not recognize raid drive

I'm hitting the same bug. I did get the LSI drivers onto a USB stick and got them loaded into the kernel during installation.

    It did not help.

The problem is that those LSI drivers do not work...
  11. [ubuntu] Re: Disk Controller Drivers for IBM x3200 ServeRAID M1015

Any updates on this? My server is sitting here collecting dust. I have contacted my vendor and told them I want to return the whole thing. I have blown a lot of time and effort trying to get this...
  12. [ubuntu] Re: Disk Controller Drivers for IBM x3200 ServeRAID M1015

Any updates on this? We've had this new M3 sitting here for quite a while now. What can we do to get it working? I know that Centos 6 will support it and will be out in about a month.

    I found...
  13. [ubuntu] Re: Disk Controller Drivers for IBM x3200 ServeRAID M1015

It's very frustrating, I have a brand new X3550 sitting here collecting dust at the moment.

Why don't you go over to the bug report, log in, and also post a comment on that. I'm sure this thing...
  14. [ubuntu] Re: Disk Controller Drivers for IBM x3200 ServeRAID M1015

Any updates? Any word on when there will be an ISO we can use? If I signed up for Ubuntu enterprise support, could they roll me an ISO?
  15. [ubuntu] Re: Disk Controller Drivers for IBM x3200 ServeRAID M1015

Any updates on this? I've been checking the Lucid daily builds location and there are no updates since Nov. 24, and that ISO doesn't work. I hope I don't have to wait until February to get this...
  16. [ubuntu] Re: Disk Controller Drivers for IBM x3200 ServeRAID M1015

I'm having exactly the same problem. I bought a new X3550 M3 and was excited to get Ubuntu on it. After much scratching of my head, I finally found this thread and also Bug #546091 and the driver...
  17. [all variants] Re: DVDs trouble - DVD Movie Protect and others

Thanks for the info. It may be a bad disk or a problem with the reader. I'll try it out.

    I did try

    mplayer dvd://1

And that works but it only shows the menu screen over and over without...
  18. [all variants] DVDs trouble - DVD Movie Protect and others

    Hello Ubuntuans,

I've been using MPLayer, which comes with libdvdcss and so on, for quite a while. I get it from the Medibuntu repos. It's very easy to set up and use. I'm currently using...
  19. [ubuntu] Re: Raid array doesn't start automatically on boot

Well, I got it working by adding a line in /etc/mdadm/mdadm.conf. It took me a little bit to get that line right. It would be nice if Palimpsest did that automatically or had an option to do it,...
  20. [ubuntu] Raid array doesn't start automatically on boot

    I have a strange question.

I have an Ubuntu 9.10 office server machine set up. I have RAID mirroring with two disks. I configured it all using Palimpsest, and it was quite easy to do.

    But...
