  1. Re: connect printer directly through ethernet port

I have a couple of questions:
    1) What's the printer make and model?
    2) What Linux/Windows/Mac versions will be running the printer?
  2. Re: Can't get NVIDIA PRIME to work on GTX 980 Ti

As long as Linux can detect the graphics card and use its drivers it will work. Graphics drivers are managed and booted before the desktop environment boots.

    Your Nvidia drivers version supports...
  3. [SOLVED] Re: Ubuntu 17.10: Unexpected shutdowns on battery power

Well if you bought a new battery and it still doesn't charge, then chances are it's either a problem with the laptop mechanics or the Ubuntu software. To me it seems like it's the laptop mechanics if...
  4. Re: Scanner from Epson XP-342 does not work for free

  5. [SOLVED] Re: Integrated camera not showing up in lsusb or lspci (Thinkpad X230)

It could be that the camera isn't on.

We know that Ubuntu can't detect the camera at all if it isn't in lspci.

If the camera is on and it still doesn't work, try this page:

  8. Re: hard drive error on format/delete input/output error

hdparm has to do with the power management and speed that the hard drive runs at. It doesn't have to deal with the data itself.

    Try booting through a...
  9. Re: How to enable authentication on a shared printer.

Well without knowing what you're trying to do with the printer or the server, can any of the 100 users connect to your home server at all using LDAP? That would be a good start.
  10. [SOLVED] Re: Xerox Phaser 3010 printer doesn't work with 16.04 LTS

What does the error message say?
  11. Re: problem with nvidia geforce 930m apfter upgrade

You could manually install the nVidia drivers through their website or through the repositories:

    sudo apt install nvidia-384
  12. Re: hard drive error on format/delete input/output error

You could try taking the hard drive out of the computer, but in my opinion I doubt it would fix the problem. The damage was at the software level, not the hardware level. If the hard drive was...

  16. [ubuntu] Re: problems with wireless keyboard mouse (or Graphics or compiz?)

I have a few questions about the devices:

    1) What are the devices' make and model numbers?

  18. Re: Scanner from Epson XP-342 does not work for free

I would agree that there shouldn't be any reason you need to pay for software when you have free and open source software.

It looks like Ubuntu has the capability to detect and use the scanners...
  19. Re: hard drive error on format/delete input/output error

Haha no worries it happened to me before too. That's how I know about it. I had to replace my hard drive in my laptop.

  20. [SOLVED] Re: Dell Optiplex 780 system fan keeps running on high

  21. [xubuntu] Re: Problems with Brother MFC250C under Xubuntu 17.10

The printing problems seem to be an issue at the application level, not the driver level.

For the text file, it may be a problem with mousepad itself because LibreOffice Writer prints the text...
  22. [ubuntu] Re: Splitting disk into two partitions without formatting.

If you have enough extra space you could shrink the partition and make a second partition, move some games over to it, shrink the partition again, move more games over, and rinse and repeat. It can...
  23. Re: hard drive error on format/delete input/output error

    Oh okay I understand now.

By the look of things, it looks like the drive can be recognized and interacted with. There seems to be no hardware damage, which is a good thing.

    Now the weird thing...
  24. [ubuntu] Re: Splitting disk into two partitions without formatting.

Oh okay you're looking to split the Windows partition (which has the games) into two partitions: one with the Windows OS and the other with Games?
  25. [ubuntu] Re: Splitting disk into two partitions without formatting.

There is indeed a way. The easiest way is through GParted.

    Install and run GParted:

sudo apt install gparted && sudo gparted

Then if your drive isn't listed already go to GParted ->...
