This is easy. You can use compiz with mate. It's worked for me (mate 1.8 + ubuntu 14.04). So, you can have hot corner !
Mate 1.8 uses blueman now : http://mate-desktop.org/blog/2014-03-11-mate-desktop-singing-the-bluez/.
It's not perfect. If you prefer, you can install the mate-bluetooth package 1.6.
The compiz package in proposed doesn't work better. So, I install the previous package from 11.10 and block updates for them. It's not a good solution but it's temporary.
