  1. [ubuntu] Re: Internet working just partly in Linux. In Windows, it's working fine.

Hi. I am having this same problem, but only just recently.

I finally got wifi and internet working in Ubuntu Jaunty (using wicd for wifi connection instead of the standard-issue network manager)....
  2. [ubuntu] Re: How do I remove a restricted driver FROM COMMAND LINE?

    Thanks.

apt-cache search helped a lot. I found it pretty much straight away. Removed. All is good now.

Needless to say, I won't be trying to install the ATI gfx drivers again. No...
  3. [ubuntu] Re: How do I remove a restricted driver FROM COMMAND LINE?

Okay. I can't edit the thread title.

    Sorry.

Anybody reading this, my question is about removing a propriatary hardware driver from the command line because the ATI graphics driver has totally...
  4. [ubuntu] Re: How do I remove a restricted driver FROM COMMAND LINE?

    It's not a package.

I installed it from the "proprietary" Hardware Drivers GUI. Sorry, maybe I should edit post title to say "proprietary" and not "restricted".

    Duh. My mistake.
  5. [ubuntu] Re: No application is registered as handling this file error Intrepid 8.10

May I suggest making this sticky?

I spent ages trying to get internet / wifi working in Jaunty with no avail until I installed wicd.

Lots of people keep posting with simmilar issues, so I...
  8. [ubuntu] Wifi/internet problems since updating to jaunty? Read this!

    Here's the solution.

    It worked fine for me.

1A. Get a web connection (another machine, another OS, whatever) if no wifi means no web for you (like me).

    1B. Go here --...

[ubuntu] Re: Problem setting up wifi in 9.04

Thanks, dude. You just totally solved my wifi problem. I installed wicd and... tada. Internet working and all.

  10. [ubuntu] Jaunty Jackalope 9.04 - Lost wifi & web after update - Using Edimax EW-7318USg

This message may be quite long, but it explains my situation in detail.

First of all, I want to say this:

    UBUNTU RULES!!!

Now that is out of the way, I'd like to say I am very disappointed...
  11. [ubuntu] Re: Ethernet not recognized after 9.04 upgrade

I think it is to do with the actual update rather than a fresh install. Even so, the Intrepid to Jaunty update seems under-tested. I have no wifi at all now in Ubuntu and also have some other bugs,...

[ubuntu] Re: Lost wireless after Jaunty upgrade

    Bump.

I have almost the same problem as this.

I updated my Ubuntu Hardy to Intrepid and everything worked perfectly still. Absolutely nothing was broken.

Shortly after, I proceeded with the...
