Yup, it is not installed by default in Debian and I have virtual machines in VirtualBox.

    [ubuntu] Re: Apparmor vs SElinux

I only see 32 bit in 16.04, which has moved on to a kernel that borks the computer. Debian doesn't change unless there's a security update.

There's not really that many choices when you cross...

    [ubuntu] Re: Apparmor vs SElinux

I require a GUI on that machine. Debian made it easier. I don't see a 32bit server image listed on the alternate installer list.

Edit: I also wanted LXDE on it. Canonical only offers 3 year LTS...

    [ubuntu] Re: Apparmor vs SElinux

Not sure how that makes Linux an unserious thing. Pick the distro of your liking, then build it to do what you need it to do. The different distros off different defaults, but they're just defaults.

    [ubuntu] Re: Apparmor vs SElinux

Here's a doc that compares the two. https://elinux.org/images/3/39/SecureOS_nakamura.pdf

Personally, I've toyed with Fedora, but I too prefer using APT. I have also messed around with creating...
  6. [ubuntu] Re: Client server application is running fast only when I click or hover the mouse

What is the application you're running? Which version of ubuntu?
  7. Re: Ubuntu 18.04 and system error at every login

I see there is a bug report for that error here, https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/spice-vdagent/+bug/1800196

For others looking at this thread, the info from the above log message file...

Re: Things that you dislike in Ubuntu

    That's adjustable via Settings.

I've noticed this, too, now that I have Debian on the desktop and Ubuntu on the laptop.

You want to run a VM on a RaspberryPi?
  11. Re: What good is the desktop directory screen if the file names cannot be read?

    What DE are you using?
I'm using gnome and desktop icons are turned off.I prefer to open the folder I am working in instead of working from the desktop.
  12. Re: Why doesn't the Ubuntu download page discourage people from using non-LTS version

I agree with this reasoning. They want bug reports so things that might be on the next LTS can get ironed out.
  13. Re: What are your Likes and/or Dislikes with Ubuntu Forums

Places where volunteers work to help those in need do tend to be this way. There's plenty enough politics on Facebook.

    [lubuntu] Re: Support Shell Password

Is your company paying for extended support? 14.04 is no longer supported, unless the company is paying Canonical. If they're paying for support, then you should be able to contact Canonical...
  15. Re: What exactly do you do with your computer at home ?

Wow, the exact reason I built my own server. No IP cams.
  16. Re: What exactly do you do with your computer at home ?

I run a Motion server, so the first thing I do while drinking coffee is merge all the vids together, then open with VLC and take the speed to 4x and look for any clips worth saving, which is usually...

The link for the package has a link on the right for asking a question. They'll be your best bet for finding out what's going to happen.

Re: does adding these codecs make me unsafe ?

aka codecs to the average user. Encryption itself is supposedly illegal to share with certain countries.

@OP I have yet to see a case where a system has been compromised with those softwares.

[Other Ubuntu/Debian based] Re: Videos player wont show video

Have you created a bug report with Totem? You said you also use VLC, does the video format in question work on VLC? Plan C might be to use FFMPEG to convert to another format.

Re: Video capture from screen in 18.04

Are you looking for a screen recorder you can go live with? SimpleScreenRecorder can record the screen to whatever file format you want, but not sure it can go live.
  25. Re: I am no longer a distro hopper. What about you ?

I am starting to think I am a distro hopper. I'm about to ditch Debian and move back to Ubuntu. Too many stupid things that have to be reconfigured to make apps work as intended.
