    If I ad the users using "adduser" or with the tool "user-admin" does not make a difference in the login screen.

    I have just tried the menu item "Preferences -> users and groups" It generates the users also, but remains the same problem in the login screen.

    I removed the old users (those which I generatet wich "userad") using "userdel". After that I generated them newly...

    Thanks: the "alt" + "right mouse" did the trick in gnome 3.

    They have gone now from top and bottom. (Unfortunately they don't show anywhere now... try a reboot ...)

    default for unity is "TOP" and "LEFT"
    default for gnome 3 ist "TOP" and "BOTOM"

    I want them "LEFT" and "RIGHT"

    Your "trick" does not work in my case.

    The life-cd ubuntu 10.10 64-bit works out of the box (I tried ten minutes ago).

    Probably the upgrade-process to 11.04 was not...

    I have just upgraded to Ubuntu 11.04 and the USB-3 port is no longer working. It worked formerly using 10.10.

    I am using an external USB 3 (1 TByte) hard drive....
