  1. Re: why is my Mythbuntu machine still on 10.04? Is that a problem?

I'm more than happy to stay on LTS, generally ubuntu backporting has been poor. I want to keep up with mythtv releases.
  2. why is my Mythbuntu machine still on 10.04? Is that a problem?

I'm running updates on my mythbuntu machine, I see there are a few I need to apply as a dist-upgrade, but nothing that explains why I'm still on 10.04.3 (according to /etc/issue). Is the mythbuntu...

  4. [ubuntu] ubuntu-compatible affordable sheetfed scanner?

I'm looking for an affordable sheetfed scanner. It would be nice if 10 or 20 pages could be inserted, but even a single-page scanner like a NeatReciepts mobile scanner would be fine. That brand...

    apt for Eclipse Indigo?

So Eclipse Indigo (3.7) was released today. I'd really love to upgrade it through eclipse rather than install it from a tarball. It's not there yet. Is there a PPA people are using, or what?
  6. Re: basic LIRC help: why doesn't it recognize multiple remotes?

Hmm. I trolled around and realized lircd was still running so it was ignoring my changes. I killed the existing, and now LIST shows all of my remotes. Woot!
  7. Re: basic LIRC help: why doesn't it recognize multiple remotes?

The following indicates that patching and such shouldn't be necessary:
    http://www.commandir.com/content/view/40/61/

I'm not confident that the /MultiLIRC is any more than an outdated method used...
  8. basic LIRC help: why doesn't it recognize multiple remotes?

    I had the following /etc/lirc/lircd.conf:
    include "/usr/share/lirc/remotes/streamzap/lircd.conf.streamzap"

I added two more remotes to it:
    include "/usr/share/lirc/remotes/onkyo/RC-651M"...
  9. [SOLVED] Re: ion2 hdmi audio alsa/snd_hda_intel doesn't think my tv is connected

Hey- that was all I had to update. But post the results of the following commands and I'll see if I can help.
    uname -a
    aplay -l
    aplay -L
  10. [SOLVED] Re: ion2 hdmi audio alsa/snd_hda_intel doesn't think my tv is connected

BTW, what got HDMI working on my Jetway Mini-top was to install the 2.6.35 kernel. It isn't available on backports yet, but I was able to install easily from the debs.

  11. [SOLVED] Re: GT 240 + 256.53 driver + ALSA 1.0.23 = HDMI audio!?

No, I'm just talking about generic digital, like you mentioned here:

    *lurking*. Curious what you discover.
  13. Re: upgraded to 10.4, mythfilldatabase not running automagically

Very true. And I'm guessing you are a perl programmer, not a python programmer by that statement :-)
  14. Re: upgraded to 10.4, mythfilldatabase not running automagically

Yeah, I definitely don't need the man for crontab (and it's "man 5 crontab" to get the user-facing cron). But I wanted to know the right way to do it, which is what Ian gave.
  15. upgraded to 10.4, mythfilldatabase not running automagically

So I upgraded from 8.whatever to 10.4. I've gotten past most of the hiccups, but mythfilldatabase isn't running automagically. I'm running it by hand now, no problem with that. It's been a few years,...
  16. Re: jaunty, mythvideo, and libmp3lame0 don't get along

Aha, that's what I needed to hear.

With some trepidation, I uninstalled liblame/lame, then reinstalled myth*. It all works now- hooray!

    Thanks for your help.
  17. Re: jaunty, mythvideo, and libmp3lame0 don't get along

    anybody? Bueller?
  18. jaunty, mythvideo, and libmp3lame0 don't get along

So I upgraded to Jaunty, and I can't get mythvideo installed. Here's what happens:

    # apt-get install mythvideo
    Reading package lists... Done
    Building dependency tree
    Reading state...

    Re: What happened to 1920x1080?

caps18, are you connected directly to your TV, or does it go through a receiver?

If the latter, it probably can't autodetect though the receiver.
