    Hey fellas, i tried enable_msi=1 but I couldn't get my subwoofer to work. I have a DV7t-4100.

    Instead of that I just added:

    options snd-hda-intel model=ref

    and now I have the subwoofer...

    Try adding the following line to your /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf :

    options snd-hda-intel model=ref

    That was the only thing that worked for me.
