Thanks for that info. Any ideas in which route to take for my upgrade?
I'm not banking on anything staying consistent with drivers. I had a nightmare getting Ubuntu up in my laptop with Nvidea, and I've always had better gaming performance in my ati cards.
But brand...
So after picking up The Witcher 2 for my desktop I discovered that the graphics card in it is woefully underpowered these days. I've decided to upgrade and will be sticking with ATI but I am at the...
You can give these two a try, they got my NVidia drivers to quit causing compatibility problems, though I haven't tried to use X Server settings.
sudo apt-get purge nvidia-*
sudo apt-get...
Well if its the same issue, nomodeset gets you through the install, then that fix gets everything working just fine.
Not sure as to the Virtual Box and stuff, but I know my problem was because of the proprietary NVidia drivers, the fix I linked to handled the NVidia issue, but it sounds like your problem might have...
Did you just do the unity --reset or did you do all the rest. I had the same output just running unity --reset.

I had the same thing, took care of it for me.
Some more information on all the hardward in the computers might help. But I had a similar issue and http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1981213 got me through it. Not sure if the situation is...
I've had computers with both NVidia and ATI, and I've used both Intel and AMD processors, and from my experiance, I have had nothing but problems with my Intel/NVidia systems, where my ATI/AMD...
I have solved the problem. Running off the CD I used the boot-repair utility to set "nomodeset" as a kernel option in GRUB. After this on reboot I was able to open GRUB, I let it load the OS and it...
I'll try to be as thorough describing the issue and what I have already tried as possible.
I am attempting to get Ubuntu 12.10 onto my stock Asus G60JX. The first time I tried to install from the...
No such luck at anytime.
I tried that, making sure to change the code to fit my set up. Still no effect, Console output is the same, and same result in the WINE window itself.
Even if a crack were to be found, it wouldn't...
I'm trying to install Tomb Raider Aniversery, but everytime I try to run the installer I get an error from SecuRom. Everything I've found around forums said that this shouldn't be an issue in wine....
Nah, the problem I think is with the files I have, not with dosbox, I found some old freeware dos games and got them going just fine, I think its the files I have.
I did that. and I got the installer to run. but when it tried to install the game, it just created a blank directory. And then closed.
Ok. so I got DosBox runing. but when I try to install the game. it says I need an "install.nfo" and a "boot.nfo" to install the game. but i don't have either of those files
The game I am trying to run is an Old classic game called menzoberranzan. Its a really great D&D Game.
I'm running Wine version 0.9.49
I've tried running the program with all the different...
