If you click on the 'view' tab on vlc and then tick 'advanced controls' you will now see a record button on the player.

It works fine for me. There may be some sort of drm in the stream. Install 'hal' and give that a try.

The 2 lines that refer to 'vlc_1_0_x' need to be changed to 'vlc_1_1_x'

Have you had a look at using VLC with jtvlc. It is just a suggestion, I haven't tried it myself.

Ah, I see what you mean now. From computer view I have to open the drive in question to see the details of remaining space. Single clicking just tells me I have selected that drive.
