I got the same error after upgrading netatalk
this worked for me:
edit /etc/default/netatalk and change to
CNID_METAD_RUN=yes
and then restart netatalk
sudo /etc/init.d/netatalk restart
sry, fdsik -l lists all your partions and fsck /dev/sdx will fix it, i recommend the -y option otherwise you have to type [enter] several times

boot from ubuntu DVD / CD, go to the terminal and type sudo fdisk -y /dev/[your boot hd]
it'll repair all broken stuff on the hd, that helped me.
