[all variants] Filesystem for external disk

    Hi all,

Earlier I was backing up a 5.4 GB tar archive on my external hard disk formatted as fat32. At 4.0 GB the transfer suddenly terminated. Thinking it was a random bug I tried doing it again....
  4. Re: Need good virtualization product for mac, to test linux's.

Oh and I tried VirtualBox before hand. It couldn't run XP 64 bit start menu w/o freezing for 2 minutes at a time...

VMware is a world away. Much better more stable solution. ^^

    Normally I am an...

    [ubuntu] Re: Alternative to wine?

[ubuntu] Re: Backing Up personal settings?

If you have made a /home partition you can simply re-install, using the current home as the new one (don't format it!). This should keep a lot of your settings intact.

    Alternatively you can just...

[ubuntu] Re: Fire effect for windows? How?

This is strange. In Ubuntu 8.10 all I have to do is get compizconfig-settings-manager and then "Paint fire on the screen" is under effects.

I was assuming you used 8.10 though... might not be the...

Just install them all. They are quite small. Search (by names) in the synaptic for gtk-engines...

There are gtk2-engines as well, but there is one of those you shouldn't install, will get info...

You already have OO 2.4 btw. Open Office 3.0 is coming soon, not quite yet though. You can get it if you want but it will be slightly harder than installing software the default way.

[ubuntu] Re: Belkin USB Wireless Adaptor
