I have tried for about a week to get nic card speed to work correctly; it is currently 1.5 Mbps on a 25Mbps network. I'm using wicd with a script "sudo iwconfig wlan0 rate 54M" with not success....

Is there a software util that runs on new ubuntu that will tell me info about my software versions. Such info such as ubuntu version 32 or 64 bit; flash version etc. i.e i go to adobe to update flash...

after 2 days of *%^$%# :twisted: with it I finally gave up, went down and bought a linksys wmp54g. I installed it , booted up and presto! the OS found it and it works. here are the results
