I ran scandisk on the HDD and still get the same errors. The hard drive was safely removed initially, and all of the other files that were transferred are fine, its only the jpgs that are...

The originals are gone yes, and windows can't open them either.
The files were just copied from a Windows directory to an external hard drive manually (drag and dropped). All the other files she transferred are fine, only the jpgs seem affected.
My wife recently backed up her work computer to an external hard drive, but when I plug it in to my Ubuntu machine, I cannot open any of the jpgs and instead get the below error.

Just wanted to report a seamless upgrade, and with a couple hours of moderate usage last night, everything seems to be working.
And to b3d's point about Chrome, the issue is with missing...
Thanks, fortunately we were fine, things were just a mess in the city that week. The couple days I tried to go to work, I had a crazy commute.

Please do.t post duplicate threads as I see you have started the same thread in the wireless section.
A possible work around is to use an older kernel, if any are still installed, since wifi still worked on 10.04 before you upgraded. When you boot the computer, are there any options to use a...

Try either of these commands.
Then you are gonna have to give at least some of the output from those commands. To try to weed out some of the unnecessary information, try
lspci -nn | grep 'Wireless Brand'
lsmod | grep...
OK, well the 3 hours is to be expected as that was a major upgrade you went through.
And regarding the no wifi problem, a quick google search revealed some similar problems. With more details...
I would advise starting a new thread, specifically addressing the loss of wifi, something like "just upgraded, no wifi".
Just to check, run
lsb_release -a
to verify what release you are...
OK, sounds good, and good luck configuring processing. If your not sure you installed it correctly, google installing from source in ubuntu, there is plenty of documentation.
Cheers!
For processing, that's because its not in the repos but i thought you said you installed it already. For MySQL, open a terminal and type MySQL.
My pleasure!
