Very interesting. I had one of these things in my eye. So annoying and irritating. It eventually died and disintegrated.

I have an IBM T60 laptop, and am using Ubuntu 12.04. Until recently I had normal sound, but now no sound. I don't know why.
My puter also has Windows XP professional, and the sound is working...
Fixed it! I clicked on the empty black toolbar, and a message came up 'exit full screen'. So I did.:KS

I feel such an idiot! Can someone help me please. Pressing Esc does not work, none of the F keys work, even cont-alt-del doesn't restore my normal screen.

In previous releases of Ubuntu, I used to get an automatic disc check running every 30 times I logged into Ubuntu. This isn't happening now. Can anyone tell me why, please.
I'm an elderly user, too. I'm unhappy with 12.04, but slowly getting used to it. I wish there was a very long term LTS.
