[ubuntu] Re: Twinview + Seperate X, 3 screens, 2 GPU

Soooo, I'm assuming you want to retain twinview with the 2 17" monitors, and have a separate X session on the 40"?

Did you edit xorg.conf yourself? Or did you use nvidia-settings?

[ubuntu] Re: Xorg is eating up all my memory

You could try using top or conky to determine where the ram is going.

I found that using particular websites can make firefox etc use way more ram (those that use flash etc) - so it could be just...

  11. [ubuntu] Re: Installing Nvidia driver w/o operating system

Say no. It will then try to compile a kernel module for you.
    Good luck.
  12. [ubuntu] Re: Installing Nvidia driver w/o operating system

Copy the file to your home directory.

You cant run the Nvidia install script while an X session is active.

So do a text login from a terminal, and then run the script with sudo.

    Good luck.

The average nvidia card works fine in linux. Like the others have mentioned - it also depends on what you plan on using it for.
