    For "Archive" sync, check under Account settings > Copies & folders > Message archives >

    make sure that Keep message archives in... is checked. This works for my Gmail/Thunderbird on 12.10.

    a bit of an aside, but i found a marked improvement by installing jupiter


    sudo add-apt-repository ppa:webupd8team/jupiter
    sudo apt-get update
    sudo apt-get install jupiter

    it does a good job...

    Thanks all.

    I'm probably being naive here, but it seems like the system would run snappier if it preloaded programs into all that unused RAM. Doesn't Mac do something like that in OSX?

    12.10 only uses 20% of 8GB RAM

    Please help my computer realize its full potential. Since I've been running 12.10 x64 the ram usage has not gone above 2GB (while I was looking in htop).

    Any suggestions?
