Adding the dnsmasq to Networkmanager.conf seems to have worked for me.

So should we consider this a bug? Looks like it's not isolated to PIA users, and I also had that vanilla Ubuntu VM on a Mac...

Well this just keeps getting weirder for me.
I removed PIA and it didn't change anything. I removed the network connection via NM and added another.
I tried OpenDNS in the settings. Reboot, reboot,...

I use PIA vpn. Just turned it on and I'm connected to the internet. Go figure.

No custom settings, DHCP is set to automatic.
I get a ? across my network icon. Wireless doesn't work either.
But I can get across my internal network OK :)

If that Rar icon is confusing, it can easily be changed by opening winRar, go into settings and uncheck the box next to .iso in file associations.
