    [ubuntu] Couple of Unity Questions

Sorry if this comes across negative but I'm trying to make it work.

I need to upgrade to 11.04 or 11.1 and am having trouble with Unity. I want to make some seemingly simple changes but am not...

    OIC

You kind of scared me for a second. When I read "metacity" - not having a clue about it - I thought of "metasploit."

[ubuntu] Re: Firefox title bar off screen??

    So, why did this happen?

Also, would there be a way to get it working without having to downgrade to the command line and running some arcane command?

    Okay, that worked...

    ...for a minute.

Once I exited (by pressing CTRL+C) and exited teh terminal, I lost both the minimize/maximize buttons and any ability to type.

    This is bizarre!

    LOL!

No, I'm an OLD user with an aversion to the CLI.

The CLI was fine on my TRS-80, my Apple II and the VAX I used in the '80s.

Once I got on Macintosh then Windows 3.1, however, I never...

    Yes, that can be done.

HOWEVER - It involves two things 99% of us don't want to do.

    Ahh, nevermind!

I took a leap of faith and went to the Ubuntu Software Center. There's a selection to list all "installed" packages.

  14. [ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu 10.04 (Lucid Lynx) Random Freeze / Hang-up

@Handsslow, this is not a solution. The machines are already too slow as it is. (I have a bad habit of wanting to make my computer and/or my hard drive at least 3x faster.)
