I'm having this problem as well, except in my case 'Event Sounds' keeps making itself louder. Much MUCH louder. This is, as one might expect, quite unpleasant.

I've got a t-mobile galaxy s 4, and it will only mount read-only under kubuntu 13.10. I followed the directions from...
Worked on 11.04 as well, tho I was more selective in my deleting. I deleted everything in .kde/share/config that started with the word plasma. That did the trick!
Yup, better search terms led me to http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=992262, and after deleting everything in .kde/share/config that started with plasma, the problem is solved. Thanks!
But it does suggest possibly useful search terms. So thanks!
Meant to include a URL? :) I did google, for the record, but probably I can't think of the right search terms (it's late, I'm tired, probably a contributing factor to this problem.)
I was resizing the default panel, and at exactly the wrong moment, the cat jumped on the desk and bumped my hand, causing me to shrink the panel into nothingness. Now, the panel is still running (I...
So I'd switched to OpenSuse around ubuntu 8.04, for a number of reasons. I thought I'd give (k)ubuntu another try, cos so much software gets released that's *ubuntu compatible these days, almost as...
I am totally with you. A couple years ago in kubuntu, it used to be that you had access to ALL the graphical admin apps from kcontrol. Now, kcontrol is now more, and the "settings" app hides the...
I have a 16gb microsdhc card which I use in my g1 phone. In the course of trying to update the firmware of my phone, the card got messed up. It had previously been partitioned with a 14GB fat32...
d'oh! I knew that, and completely wasn't thinking about it. I feel foolish now. Thanks for the reminder!
Because KDE4 sucks, and I'm tired of trying to work around the suck. I've got xubuntu on my netbook, and it's way more functional for me.
So, xubuntu will create any needed files&directories in...
I currently have kubuntu 9.04 on my laptop. I want to switch to xubuntu. Do I need to format /home when I do this? I intend to install some kde using software after the switch, like kmymoney, so I...
I can't seem to find qtparted in the jaunty repos. Is it not available for 9.04? What graphical frontend is there for parted for KDE then? I don't care to install gparted and end up with a bunch of...
So, on my kubuntu install, I have an 'open in terminal' action when I right click. On my boyfriend's newly installed system, this action is missing. What package do I need to install for this? I...
Even tho I don't have an sda3 or sda4 partition, as listed by fdisk anyway? Mine go sda1, sda2, sda5, sda6, sda7.
Thanks, btw. I appreciate greatly all your help! You answered the question I didn't...
I'm still unclear on how the partitions would be numbered, and apparently windows numbers the same way as linux. so, What would the partition numbers be? 4 for sda6 and 5 for sda7?

Why's it need to be done from a livecd? I've got a functioning kubuntu install.
I installed kubuntu on my laptop, which had xp and vista already installed. Grub didn't detect either windows install. I know the general syntax to add to grub, but I don't know how the partitions...
I did, I screenshotted it and it's in the post, as well as what qtparted shows. Are the two images not showing up?
Sorry, should have mentioned, I booted to a live cd to make the changes. So, it's not the fact the the partition is mounted, as the partition was not mounted at the time, and I could have shrunk the...
So, I had 4 primary partitions on my hard drive, linux root (ext2), swap, windows (NTFS), and linux home (ext2). I decided I wanted to give linux home more space, from windows. Using qtparted, I...
So, I've got an acer aspire 5050 running 8.04 and KDE3. I have an external monitor I want to connect, and have it show the same thing as the laptop screen, but at a different resolution. I'm using...
Yeah, it being there and not working is kind of a cruel taunt. 'You wanna open your file, do you? Well you CAN'T! hahahaha.' it seems to say. Or maybe I'm anthromoporphizing a bit much :p
