I know it can be installed from the libreoffice website, but I wanted a PPA so that things go smoothly and automatically. More importantly, future updates would also be equally automatic. Another...
I'm getting the feeling that the latest Libreoffice is not gonna show up in the existing Libreoffice PPA. I do not fully understand the reasons why.
I wish someone with the knowledge sets up another...
Thanks all!
I do not understand what you mean by ubuntu not recognizing drivers. Did you try using the restricted drivers in ubuntu (System > Admin > Hardware drivers)? What does that say?
First, did you do an upgrade or fresh install of lucid?
Second, which version did you install? i386 or the AMD64?
I would suggest i386 first. Have you tried enabling all the restricted drivers?
I...
This might sound stupid, but I'm not an expert and no one else has responded to you: Have you checked to make sure the headphones work well and/or you are plugging them in correctly?
Sorry if it...
The behaviour you are describing usually occurs with Alt+Mouse click. Maybe the alt key is stuck in place or something?
I have not used desktop search much, but off late, tracker seems to be better that an year ago. It does seem to index file names. Maybe you need to check the settings or allow it some time to index...

The trash feature in ubuntu is useless to me in its current form. Can somebody tell me how I can permanently delete files that were deleted (sent to trash) more than 30 days ago?
Please help! The...
I think you have to go via the Configuration Editor tool and search for GDM related settings.
The problem seems to have been fixed/gone away for me, at least for now.
Why is this marked as solved? What exactly is the solution? I still have the same issue. Goes away when javascript is disabled via Scriptblocker.
This is probably an issue with this website.

Im having the same problem. Any suggestions?
@ Big Iain: If you are referring the the link being broken, it was a typo
that I have edited. The link above is working now.
The final version will be ready for download when it is announced here:

All other sources of info are unreliable (Except...
There seems to be some incremental progress here. Screenshot is attached.
I could not get it to compile on my system as I'm a not familiar with checking dependencies and stuff. If others could help...
Have you tried copying files to other external media, say usb memory sticks or a second external HDD, etc? Please post more details as to what the error message is.
Cheers,
It is quite likely that one of the recent graphics driver updates broke your display. I understand that ATI, Nvidia and Intel graphics can cause problems to a lot of users. Wait for 9.10 or downgrade...
