I don't think there are any in the repositories or that any PPAs exist for any. I don't even think anyone provides a deb. You cann install from source but you'll need to to a bit of legwork. Be...

You should have a read of http://freenode.net/channel_guidelines.shtml

DarrenTodd, you may be right but with both Skype & Picasa (already ported to linux) both being on the survey list I guessed it was about getting things in the repos
bouml and gaphor are two others, they're both in the repos
in a terminal enter
sudo gedit /etc/default/grub
Change 'GRUB_DEFAULT=0' to wherever windows appears if it appears 2nd on your list change to 1, 3rd chang to 2 etc, save and close the file then...
I thought the thread concept was about getting things into the official repos, i.e so as users can easily install from synaptic/software centre without hunting them down. Yes Opera is available, so...
I'm surprise nobody's mentioned opera, Lets be honest we're pretty limited on browser choice if we want pages displayed the way they're intended.
I had a similar situation with crunchbang. I created a .xprofile file in the users home directory and in it used xrandr to change the resolution.
xrandr -s 1024x768
So the login screen is...
this keeps appearing in dmesg. Everything seems to be working, anyone know why

I think, but am happy to be corrected here, its because system monitor only shows processes owned by the user, and your dynamips process is owned by root. You can confirm this behaviour by creating a...
edit /etc/rc.local
and add dynamips -H 7200
before the exit 0 statement
I believe its an issue with the ATI driver while using compiz, disable compiz when you're watching videos, install fusion-icon for a convenient way of doing this.
Thanks to popey over on #ubuntu-uk who has helped identify this as an issue with the Nvidia driver (Vts work ok with nv). I now need to find away to get Nvidia to behave well.... Could be a long...
Not entirely true, they're there, I just can't see them. if I ctrl+alt+F1-6 my screen goes haywire then into standby then switches back on with a solid black screen and nothing on it. I know the vt's...
Didn't realise that! Thanks Brandon.
man apt-get
sorry, when at your crippled desktop, press alt+f2, then in the box that pops up....
hit alt + f2 in the box type gnome-panel
Should get you at least an empty panel from which you can rebuild yours.
if it doesn't, backup then delete everything under...
The reason those packages are kept back is because they depend on extra packages not already installed. apt-get upgrade doesn't pull in those extra packages, while apt-get dist-upgrade does.
I run apps that are connected from x-connected chroots on a different desktop to stop me getting confused as to which environment the app belongs to.
So it's not really a bug so I didn't go over to launchpad but have posted an idea on brainstorm here:

Indeed, you're right.
No problem it took me about 4 hours of googling when i first came across the problem.
Difficult one on dependencies, as a dependency is a requirement i.e the program will simply not work without...
