Re: Ubuntu not working properly on EeePC

I've had a look at some of the eee customised versions but like the original 9.04 better. I only have multimedia issues when customising xorg for large virtual screen sizes to use an external monitor...
  2. [ubuntu] Re: Disappointed Ubuntu Newbie - WPA2 + NIC Woes

Sorry that didn't work. At least it rules out a NM 0.7 issue.

If you haven't already looked here then this might help or steer you in the right direction.

  3. [ubuntu] Re: Disappointed Ubuntu Newbie - WPA2 + NIC Woes

Intrepid gave me better hardware support but (Network Manager 0.7) broke my Wireless that was happy in Hardy.

I found a workaround yesterday involving gconf-editor to manually remove ccmp entries...
  4. [ubuntu] Re: Success! Broadcom Wireless Connection Through WPA2

    Thanks Favux.
This workaround fixed wpa enterprise with tkip via Network-manager 0.7 on my eeePC with an RT2860 wireless card.
Previously wpa enterprise with tkip would only work in earlier...
  5. [ubuntu] Re: Intrepid: Wont connect to WPA2 enterprise network

Thanks. Finally a fix that works and it's so simple.

Poll: Re: Replace Network Manager with WICD

Or this thread may be increasing it's value now.

If NM worked well there wouldn't be so much interest in threads like this one.

Things broken in NM 0.7 that worked in previous version of NM are...
  7. [ubuntu] Re: Disappointed Ubuntu Newbie - WPA2 + NIC Woes

It may be an issue with Intrepid.

Try booting Hardy off a live CD and see if you can easily get wireless working.

  9. [ubuntu] Re: Laptop display all black after wake up from suspend

Killing X puts you back at the login screen.

I've had varying wake from suspend issues in the last few days.

Today it was hard to wake and when it finally woke from suspend there wasn't the...
  10. [ubuntu] Re: Laptop display all black after wake up from suspend

Suspend was working well on 8.10 until a recent update.

I now get the same black screen.

Using Ctl+Alt+Backspace to restart xwindows is quicker than rebooting for now.

    edit: Rebooted to the...
  11. [ubuntu] Re: Intrepid: Wont connect to WPA2 enterprise network

We have WPA Enterprise TKIP at Uni.
    Ubuntu 8.04 worked well.
Ubuntu 8.10 connects to other WPA networks but not WPA Enterprise with TKIP.
Tried Dell D630 and ASUS 1000H.

I just put 2GB of ram into my ASUS 1000h.

[all variants] Re: old VMware around?

The vmware forums may be a good place to look.

    http://communities.vmware.com/index.jspa

Another option may be using virtualbox as it can read some vmware formats.

Re: Which VirtualBox: OSE or PUEL?

My bias is also towards open source but VirtualBox OSE/PUEL seems a bit like Fedora/Red Hat licensing.

I like Ubuntu style open source where everyone gets the full version which is why I stopped...
