You can use 32-bit Ubuntu with PAE to address the full 4GB of RAM.
Ubuntu 9.04 and earlier:
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo sudo apt-get install linux-headers-server linux-image-server...
Windows XP x64 is limited to 128 GB of physical memory and 8 terabytes of virtual memory per process.
Driver support for this OS is pathetic though so I don't think many people will use it.
