FYI
I just finished doing a 12.04 upgrade on my 4,1 using the mac amd64 daily iso
Early days - but everything just works with no tweaks scripts etc.
Only thing I can note that is - no click...
Whos using a 4,1 mba?
If so what touchpad drivers are you using?
arrgg. If it aint broke dont fix it.
Just ran the new post install on my 4,1. Broke my video again.
Rolled back and now my trackpad no longer works.
Crap
After several reboots I can confirm there is major lag between login and unity.
The only difference between .14 and .13 I can note is the .14 post install did not use the xorg-edgers repository.
...
Yeah - My 4,1 upgraded 1-2 days ago from 3.0.0.13 -> .14 after reboot I got the usual bad video.
But things then went SUPER LAGGY i.e couldn't login, mouse super unresponsive.
So I went back to...
try running alsamixer from the command line
After clearing mba-tmp and xorg-edgers and running post-install all well except for bluetooth on my 4,1.
->but what are you using for touchpad disabling, huey?
Not sure what you mean by this - please explain.
re: xorg.conf mtrack
Option "ScrollUpButton" "5"
Option "ScrollDownButton" "4"
Swap 4 and 5 around if you prefer normal scrolling (my laptop isn't an ipad thanks)
Thanks for the heads up!
WOW! One person other than me running Ubuntu on the MBA 4,1
I had the same problem with the kernel update. I thought the issue was the patch for the gpu driver not applying. I manually edited to...
No strange things - Unity had launched in 2d not 3d - all good in 3d
Ok
I'm beyond my depth here - but I noticed the the problem was the patch not applying to the intel_bios.c
I manually pasted over (based on you panel model)
panel_fixed_mode->hdisplay =...
How do you boot back to 3.0.0-12 - its not in the grub menu?
My resolution is poked even after running post-install on 3.0.0-13
What are the chances- I finally transition to my mba this morning and the kernal update screws my resolution(mba 4,1).
Running the fix-i915.sh presently
Unity 3D works fine for me on standard xorg - and given my smaller screen its grown on me.
(I "REALLY" don't like the new gnome look IMHO)
But I have to disable mtrack in the xorg.conf.
The...
4,1 - 11" Update
xorg-edgers ppa: Still no dice on 3d desktop
It was an xorg-edgers thing - the bleeding edge build broke mtrack at least for me on the 4,1 11" the fix was to purge the ppa(then remove the xorf.conf entry).
But that was a little while ago...
Problem is the opposite on th 11" without mtrack
Can right click but cant continuous drag. If theres anyone out there with a resolution for the 11" please let me know.
@jebus - Im on the 11" MBA. And no, no flicker from full brightness terminal via unity or dropping back to the console
After purging xorg-edgers/ppa
Removed mtrack section from xorg.conf - restarted and enabled two finger scrolling from settings.
Ran alsamixer and unmuted the surround option - now...
RATS.
After removing ppa:xorg-edgers trackpad is dead
Unity runs as 3D - but have to use external mouse
Audio appears to play but no sound
On a side note while thats running.
After installing restricted extras when testing with banshee - the audio appears to buffer and play but no sound.
I've checked alsamixer volume and gui...
