Having this exact same problem and it's damn annoying with 11.10.

I got around it by doing a clean install of Ubuntu instead of an upgrade. After doing that, no hanging.
Having the exact same issue after trying to update from 11.04 using the system update software within Ubuntu.
I can confirm the same problem with my MSI Wind U100 using Ubuntu 10.10 Netbook Remix. Coming out of suspend invariably leaves my wireless network unable to connect unless I reboot.
