Or better still use NFS if your not serving to a windows machine.
try findsmb on the client to see if the share is available.

You should check your keyboard is configured correctly! not sure about Gnome as I use KDE. In your settings there must be an option to change keyboard layout - try using the standard 102 key option.
Ben,
I already have alltray working to minimise my firestarter window. I assumed it would not work for the terminal.
I can get this to work with the terminal by manually selecting the window after...
I have a desktop computer and a NAS, running Kubuntu & Ubuntu. I use WOL to wake the NAS and then mount the drives (NFS) on my desktop.
I've placed an icon on my KDE desktop which wakes the NAS and...
I still use this for my NAS but it's a shame it doesn't quite manage what it promises! The documentation seems to be scarce too. It does work monitoring ssh, as I've set mine up to shut down the NAS...
Plasmate is a program for editing plasmoids - in case anyone wants to know. Still don't know where to edit though!
I've installed a plasmoid 'stock quote'. It will only show Nasdaq quotes and I would like it to show FTSE quotes instead. I'm assuming there must be a file with a URL that could be edited to...

touch /forcefsck
try restarting by typing;...
Well, I abandoned the live CD and tried GParted live instead. I can access my data so some good news.
I still have Kubuntu starting up to a blank blue screen with coloured dots around the top of the...

My output!

Starting Kubuntu 10-04 this morning - attempts to boot with drive activity then hangs.
fdisk -l shows all drives.

Missing out what may seem an irrelevant step can lead to hours of messing about! It's happened to me so many times!
Earlier this year I spend days trying the above only to find out my /home...
Maybe setting Samba to run later in the boot process!

sudo update-rc.d samba defaults 99
However, There are other people here better qualified to help...
Yes, just open a terminal. Just to correct my previous post;
sudo visudo

I havent altered the config file other than set the no-activity time and apply it to ssh.
I noticed that using ps -ew args and applying the process into the config file didn't work so I just ssh...
