[ubuntu] Re: Thunderbird and Evolution won't work

IMAP synchronize was the reason why. Thunderbird has a couple tabs when you first start it up, one of which is the migration assistant. Turn off IMAP sync from that tab.

[ubuntu] Re: Benefits of creating a /home partition

When I upgraded from Karmic to Lucid it was a disaster. The upgrade process locked up and I had a system that was unbootable.

So, I reinstalled, wiping out the / paritition. I told the installer...

[ubuntu] Re: Thunderbird and Evolution won't work

I did a clean install of Lucid, retaining my home partition.

I installed Thunderbird and it picked up all my accounts, but a couple of them could not send mail. It turned out that Secure...

Right click on your panel, select Add to Panel.
Now drag the Indicator Applet where you want it. You'll get the volume (and evolution) icons.

[ubuntu] Learned something I didn't know!

So I've been running Ubuntu for about three years now. Don't use Windows much-- don't need it other than for a couple apps, and I usually fire up a virtual machine for that.

    However today I found...

[ubuntu] Re: How to run .bin files

You should have downloaded the .deb file:

    http://www.real.com/realcom/R?href=http://forms.real.com/real/player/download.html?f=unix/RealPlayer11GOLD.deb

Then just double click to install.

    Poll: Re: Evolution or Thunderbird?

My beef with Evolution is the lack of the option to Delete Mail from Server when deleted in Evolution. Yeah, I know POP wasn't meant for that, but every other mail client does it and it's convenient...

  21. [ubuntu] Re: Default boot drive priority (defaults to external drive)

This is not an issue with Ubuntu, as it is your motherboard that is deciding what device to boot from.

Try disabling boot from USB altogether.
