Hi,
I have a laptop with a built-in webcam which should work, but doesn't.
It is marked as working here:
http://linux-uvc.berlios.de/
Its 'BisonCam' - USB ID is 5986:0241. dmesg shows
Yes, if PCM volume is at maximum then things really sound bad - its like putting your 100w stereo on 11 with 10w speakers :) I usually have mine set to about half way, using the volume controls from...
Like Paqman I'd also advise against Frontpage. I use Bluefish -

and find it very good.
For transferring files between two boxes I prefer simple scp over any...

Just pop into Synaptic, remove the flashplayer and then install Gnash.
The only problem here is that you'll probably find sites that the Adobe flashplayer works better with than Gnash :/

cd directoryname
./configure
make
make install

If you want to get into development, then gcc is your friend...
Check your current network configuration from the Network Manager icon. If it is set to "roaming" you're good to go!
Be interesting to know the glitches though as I've never had to reinstall...
Assuming your cable modem has a dhcp server and you connect to it via a nice ethernet cable, everything will "Just Work" :)
1. None really, especially as Windows doesn't boot! Just don't delete any system files ;-)
2. My Windows drives mount automatically. GUI, cli... its all a matter of preference.
I use mutt a lot :)

With your own distro you'd have to manually make it update automatically :)

If you didn't set a passphrase, then it won't ask you for one :)
Yes, the Celeron will work just fine :)
Hm. The NVIDIA OpenGL Driver requires CPUs with SSE. Yours just has mmx :( You'll need a driver that was released before they took out support for CPUs without SSE... sometime around 2006?
Get an administrator (you) to install the software. That way you get to control what goes on :)
It is also safe to surf from an account that has the administrator role - you'll need to enter your...
I use Nvu for making websites (as well as Apache, MySQL and PHP).
