    [ubuntu] Re: Beginner to Ubuntu

If you do a full install, all other previous OS' will be gone.
Some people do a dual install with both Win and (x)ubuntu, but I'm no expert here.
  2. Re: Cannot install Linux from Disc. No software

The installation DVD needs to boot your machine.
This means, that you first need to power up your machine and press "F10", "F2", "Esc" or whatever your brand of PC needs to get into the BIOS.

  4. [lubuntu] Re: Difficulties in manual partitioning, pls help me

You want to do manual partitioning of your drive for a 100% Lubuntu system. No problem.
You've already gotten to the partitioning part.
Click on the "New partition table" bottom left.
  5. Re: TouchPad & Hibernation Not Working in Lenovo Ideapad S145-15IIL

Hibernate is per default disabled in (x)Ubuntu. It needs a bit of effort to get it to work. Have you defined a swap partition? If not, it's very difficult.
  6. PPA/Muon etc. What are these people doing in my machine?

During my fiasco and subsequent succes installing Brave (a marathon), I rummaged around in the Lubuntu install managers.
    Eg, Muon and "Software sources".

And I found some strange characters...
  7. [SOLVED] Re: Problems trying to install Brave browser - GPG key issues

OK, final installment here, last hurdle conquered.

It works now. The key is installed in /etc/... and Brave works. The final problem was, that the "echo" command to update /etc/apt/sources.list.d...
  8. [SOLVED] Re: Problems trying to install Brave browser - GPG key issues

    Well, whaddyaknow.
Suddenly the key installtion worked in /etc as suggested in post #2.
I'm sure there was a key problem the last couple of days with Brave, as I haven't done anything differently....
  9. [SOLVED] Re: Problems trying to install Brave browser - GPG key issues

You've said this before. And I've no idea what it means. I'm NOT compiling Brave source code.
  10. [SOLVED] Re: Problems trying to install Brave browser - GPG key issues

I see no point in installing in /usr/share instead of /etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d where all my other keys are.

I've given up on Brave. When this project is not even able to make a .deb package or...
  11. [SOLVED] Re: Problems trying to install Brave browser - GPG key issues

OK, I've now also removed from the "Software Sources","Other software" and tried again. No success. Something's wrong with the Brave key.

  14. [SOLVED] Problems trying to install Brave browser - GPG key issues

I'd like to try out the Brave browser, and from the (hopefully official) download page here:
I followed the instructions with no success. Here's the output:

Re: Tale of Woe - Snaps

To me, there's a good reason that "snap" rhymes with "cr*p".
For .deb installs 20...30 GB for / is par today. For snap, perhaps 1 TB? I don't know.

    Sorry, but no cigar.
Last Lubuntu 32-bit version is 18.10
    After that it's only amd64.
I think Debian still supports i386.

Re: Cant open Ubuntu GUI on Ubuntu Server

I think the point about Ubuntu Server is that it doesn't have a GUI desktop. Install normal Ubuntu instead.

I'd rather eat a rotting rat. But that's just me.
  19. [lubuntu] Re: Execute command then start executable in Desktop entry - possible?

    No reason to install anything.

Save it somewhere sensible (eg, $HOME/.local/share) and execute...

  23. [ubuntu] Re: How do I get the option to type Hebrew in Ubuntu 20.04.3?

You'll need to install the keyboard, and perhaps also the locale. Then it should be selectable in your "Locale" settings.
