I have actually find Python to be very interesting and promising. Not difficult to learn but probably not for task that needs the speed like C++ and Fortran.
Advice?
Has anyone have any experience using Salome for CFX?
I am using Linux at home and of course can't afford to have a CFX licence at home. However, I always need to use CFX at work. I am wondering if...
Personal experience actually. SCIM works without tweaking for all the applications (Firefox, text, openoffice, etc). So I tried to search for a solution for myself and found that there were quite a...
SCIM might work for many applications (e.g. firefox, songbird, etc). However, many people found that it doesn't integrate well with Pidgin.
Here are two solutions that I found on a website

Is there any good/free chemical database for individual or very small business? e.g. properties of fluids, chemical composition etc.
Also is there an alternative to Knovel?
Thanks
I have never tried the Linux version myself. I did however remember that they generally support the Redhat/Suse based distribution. Not sure if it is as easy to install in the debian/Ubuntu based...
Keep me in touch about the plates which i meant. I am just thinking of how I can recycle those old harddisk of mine.
Are the plates in the hard drive platter conductive? Just out of plain curiosity
Not sure if that is useful to you. Have you tried Salome platform?

Is it CFD that you are looking for? I think OpenFOAM might be something you can have a look.
Apparently no one responded but this does appear that I can only have 100K elements in an array within Octave. After trying to put my script with 100K elements and 100001 elements, both gives a...
Anyone know what is the maximum size that an array can take in octave?
I have 120000 values wanting to put in an array
when I did so, I found that I can only get 100000?
what I did is

It might sound silly but did you put those content file into the appropriate folder? I remember I had that problem when I install the window's version.

Thanks both.
I have gotten it somewhere that say
V_mean = (2/3)* V_max (laminar)
V_mean = (49/60) * V_max (Turbulent)
Any idea where this originate from?
Of course jpkotta...
Actually I should state that more clearly.
I have a velocity profile that is parabolic in a pipe. I want to find the mean velocity of this profile. How can I do it? I remember that V_mean =...
Strangely, I just can't find the method from google how to find a mean value from a parabola?
Any help?
Cheers
I personally prefer octave over scilab. I normally have alot of matlab files from previous workers and converting them into scilab using the built-in convertor normally will cause minor errors....
I have an output as follows
E.g

To continue the discussion, this provides a better site for web-octave
http://knn.mimuw.edu.pl/weboctave-project/
The download is available in sourceforge.
I have generated some output from a script. However, all my values have a complex number term.
E.g.
1.431333666746343+0i
4.691718399388015+0i
8.164995189955654+0i
10.03549833370017+0i...
I am wondering if there is something similar to the matlab web browser whereby I can input data from a webpage and do the backend simulation using octave/scilab instead of matlab?
Thanks and...
