Found this workaround: http://askubuntu.com/questions/128265/mouse-pointer-touchpad-getting-stuck-often-in-12-04
I have the same issue on a Thinkpad T530 running 12.10, kernel 3.5.0-21-generic. Except I don't even have to suspend to get it. If I set my laptop to only turn off the screen when I close the lid, I...
Having a similar problem with a Thinkpad T530 in 12.10. There is no xorg.conf anymore so I can't apply that solution. Manually adding it didn't work either. Any other ideas?
Same problem here with Logitech M510 on upgrade from 11.10 to 12.04. Extremely irritating that the keyboard works but the mouse doesn't.
Worked perfectly for me on 10.10 32-bit, thanks!
Just uninstall anything nvidia-* related and rename your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file. Then make sure you've installed xorg-xserver-video-intel and reboot.
Just installed Natty alpha 3 alongside Maverick on a Dell XPS15 L502X and no dice, so don't waste your time :)
I have a Dell XPS15 L502X laptop and I installed 10.10 on it. Basic video works but I'd like to install the better drivers. When I do System > Administration > Additional Drivers, it installs Nvidia...
Same issue on Toshiba Satellite M645. Disabling ACPI gets the backlight working but breaks display brightness control and suspend.
Any ideas on this?
I was certain that this solution was too silly to be true, but I was wrong. Never underestimate the power of *******. </sarcasm> Thanks jseabold!
Confirmed that this method DOES work with the Lucid versions of gtkpod (0.99.14) and libgpod (0.7.93). Also, after following these steps I am able to use Rhythmbox just fine to sync music to my iPod...
I had problems on 32 bit, but 9.04 fixed them all.

I get fairly consistent compiz crashes in Jaunty while using OO. It seems to be when I am scrolling in a Word Processor or Spreadsheet window. I've had this problem at least since Hardy.
Kpiascik, I have the exact same keyboard but using 32 bit Ubuntu. You can try updating your kernel by doing this:
System > Administration > Software Sources
Updates Tab
Tick "Pre-released...
What kind of keyboard are you using? Does your keyboard have an F-Lock key? This has to be "on" for the function keys to work.
With the Alt-F1 stuff, are you thinking of Ctrl-Alt-F1? And so you...
This would be an awesome feature to have in Jaunty. Thanks!!
I am running 8.10, kernel 2.6.27-9-generic #1. on an HP Pavilion dv9000 laptop. The multimedia keys work fine on the laptop itself, but the external keyboard's (Microsoft Wireless Comfort Keyboard...
I run Ubuntu server 8.04 (2.6.24-20) on my PC at home. It also doubles as a desktop, and for some reason it mysteriously locks up while it is being used. I used to think it was something with Firefox...
If I install the newer driver it doesn't work with this card. I wrestled with the 169 for a while (also trying nvidia-settings when that driver was installed with the same results) but as soon as I...

I'd love to do that but like I said, nvidia-settings doesn't work because it thinks I'm not using an Nvidia driver, which is false. How do I get it to realize I'm using the Nvidia driver?
Thanks for the suggestion but I still get the error "You do not appear to be using the Nvidia X driver..." Any idea how to get around that?
