    Do you still see tcp6 entries when you type netstat -an?

    If not, then I assume you have other issues causing the problem.

    install sdlmame-tools which creates default config to /etc/sdlmame/mame.ini. Edit the file for your rom directories, launch kxmame and voila. Atleast that did the trick for me.
