  1. Re: Audio distorted on some things, fine on others.

Currently, as far as I can tell, all my local files have distorted audio. MP4s, AVIs, MP3s and WAVs are what those would be. On Youtube, what I've tried is some trailers for GTA5 (distorted), some...
  2. Re: Audio distorted on some things, fine on others.

Yeah. Some videos, both streaming and offline, are completely normal. On closer examination, by the way, on the ones that are messed up it sounds like they have a really horrible EQ (a.k.a music...
  3. Re: Audio distorted on some things, fine on others.

It doesn't seem to be limited to any specific videos. There's a whole folder of videos which have the exact same issue, which persists on multiple different video players.
  4. Audio distorted on some things, fine on others.

Alright, here's my problem. My audio is distorted on some videos/songs, but not others. It first happened on my Windows XP install. I started a Youtube video and the sound sounded horrible, like my...

Re: Bringing Chrome to the Software Center

Assuming you're going for chrome's look or the omnibox thing, but worried about privacy, you could always use Mantra (http://www.getmantra.com/) it's pretty cool.

[ubuntu] Re: Sudden GUI display issues

It's probably related to the fact that you're using a slightly incompatible package for GTK. Any specific reason you can't upgrade to 12.10?

[ubuntu] Re: wireless connection is unstable

I doubt you messed up during installation, it's probably either your connection or the fact that you're connecting through a USB device. Is there any possible way you could plug directly into the...

    Re: Playlist auto-update script

All I really need is to know of a CLI that could do it, I could write the program with expect. Unless there's another way to do it I'm not thinking of?
  13. [ubuntu] Re: reboot fail only with ssh (ufw firewall issue?)

"init 6" is, I think, the command that reboot actually runs. Essentially, it's a reboot command. Also, you could try "shutdown -r now". Also, does it reboot after it gives you all the messages?

[ubuntu] Re: 13.04 side by side install broke Windows XP

Indeed, with a 30GB hard drive, it's quite probable that it's simply dying. However it is possible that you simply moved the Windows partition when installing Ubuntu, which would cause...issues, to...
  16. [ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu 12.10 AMD 64bit laptop running sluggins (like it's low on mem)

Is it just when Chrome is open? Also, you might want to at least go to a minimum of 4G of RAM, both to utilize dual-channel support and to take advantage of the fact that you are lucky enough to own...
  17. [lubuntu] Lubuntu Development Release for 32-bit Mac?

  20. [ubuntu] Re: How to upgrade Libreoffice 3 to Libreoffice 4 and to have access to my external d

Do you know what filesystem type your windows partition is? It could be exfat, which means you'll need to install exfat-utils for it to be accessible to Ubuntu.

Try uninstalling the skype package first. Use
sudo apt-get remove --purge skype and then try installing from the .deb again.
