    [SOLVED] Why not automatically close old threads?

    Stuff like this is happening all the time, why not just mark as closed all threads older than a given time period? To keep more admins employed? Implement it once and you keep saving their time from...

    Re: X11 XGetGeometry

    Not really, mostly because that's off-topic, but Mark shared even more optimistic views (around 2014), so my view is actually pretty realistic, and I don't mean that no one will be using X, after all...

    Re: X11 XGetGeometry

    I don't know but.
    X is gonna be replaced by Wayland in the next few years (2014-2016), so writing X specific code is not welcome.
    You should use the info from GtkWindow's event handlers for window...
  5. Re: A good tutorial how to create C++ bindings for C code?

    Before this I was a Java guy, so that explains it, i.e. I really dislike this style:
    gtk_window_set_title(GTK_WINDOW(window), "title");
    in favor of common sense like this:...
  6. Re: A good tutorial how to create C++ bindings for C code?

    Thanks to all,
    apparently it's too much of a learning curve and work so I should just call the C API from my gtkmm (C++) app directly and forget about the fancy stuff that a C++ binding/wrapper...
  7. Re: A good tutorial how to create C++ bindings for C code?

    I mean like what gtkmm is to gtk, with classes you can extend the C++ way etc, etc.
    A very simple example:

    //PLAIN C CODE
    indicator = app_indicator_new("example-simple-client",
    ...
  8. A good tutorial how to create C++ bindings for C code?

    I googled, but basically found nothing.

    I'd like to try creating C++ bindings for the app indicator API which is written in C.

    [SOLVED] Is it bad coding style?

    Hi,
    I'm browsing thru some code and it contains a pile of "tmp" named vars of different types.
    Have a look, is it a good coding style? Any good reason to use that many "tmp" (non mnemonic) names?...
  12. Pulse audio - playing sound programmatically

    Hi,
    Is pulse audio a set of APIs?
    The documentation from the official site didn't answer my question.

    I'd expect there to be an (C/C++/whatever) PulseAudio API and a tutorial teaching you e.g....

    Nux documentation?

    Hi,
    Has anyone seen the libnux api/documentation anywhere?

    The competition (clutter/mm) has lots of docs, which makes me think Canonical isn't interested in others using nux.
  15. Re: [Gtk] Space between icon and label in a button

    Thanks, but changing the label makes the icon go away.

    The other example is nice but couldn't get the left alignment of the label & icon done.

  17. Re: [Gtk] Space between icon and label in a button

    Here's another weirdness: if you set your own label (e.g. button.set_label("my label")) then the icon doesn't show up at all.
  18. Re: [Gtk] Space between icon and label in a button

    Gee I still hope it's somehow customizable.. maybe we just don't know how.
  19. [Gtk] Space between icon and label in a button

    Hi,
    As one can see on the screenshot, there's too little space between the button's icon and its label. I haven't find a way to customize it. Does anyone know how?

    Here's how I create the...
  20. [Geometry] Radius bisecting congruent chords

    Hi,
    Can't solve an exercise from Schaum's book:

    Prove that a radius through the point of intersection of two congruent chords bisects an angle formed by them.

    Any ideas?

    EDIT: the title...
