  1. VERY long time away. Congrats on 20.04!

Hi all. Been away from Ubuntu for such a very long time. No particular reason other than I couldn't be bothered to remove whatever I was using at the time to give it another go. I think a lot of...
  2. [SOLVED] Re: [17.04] WINE - OK what am I doing wrong?

Sorry for late reply. I have done the same as you and installed the WINE PPA via their website, and installed the latest stable edition. This does appear to have fixed my issue. Many thanks for...
  3. [SOLVED] Re: [17.04] WINE - OK what am I doing wrong?

Can anyone shed any light on this at all? I'd really appreciate it! Many thanks.
  4. [SOLVED] [17.04] WINE - OK what am I doing wrong?

I have installed Ubuntu GNOME 17.04 on my PC (specs below) and have installed WINE from the repositories using Synaptic. I ran winetricks to set it up to play my games as I usually would but for some...

    Re: Unity v GNOME

I think after having done all that dude, I'd have just installed Cinnamon and be done with it! Much easier, and exactly what you're looking for I think.

For my part as a home user who wants his...

Re: End of Ubuntu Phone and Unity

Long time since I last posted. No real reason for that other than Ubuntu is running well for us, and no complaints or issues. All of us very demanding home users have been, and will continue to be...

    Re: Ubuntu 15.04 is magical

Yup, it's a really great release. You can definitely feel there's been a lot of not-necessarily-user-detectable-but-massively-important changes under the hood. It really feels loved. How sad that all...

Re: Is emulation dead on Linux?

I'm familiar with most of those PPA's, and they haven't been updated for the newest Ubuntu. I can't run snes9x-gtk, it hasn't been updated. Ditto Retroarch, which though it has a PPA for 15.04, it...

    Is emulation dead on Linux?

Quite surprised by the almost total dearth of emulation options on modern Linux distros these days. It used to be a real strength of the platform. Can't find things like Snes9x-gtk or anything like...

[15.04] Retroarch PPA has no Retroarch!

Anyone have any ideas? I've recently installed Ubuntu 15.04, which is now running alongside Mint 17.1 (based on 14.04). On the latter system I have installed the mighty Retroarch via their PPA, which...

    Re: Ubuntu 15.04 is magical

Gotta say, in spite of little visual refreshment I am really impressed with Ubuntu 15.04. Was going to bob onto KDE, but after installing the mainline release I'm sticking with it. So fast! Great...

    Re: Yabause emulator - ?

Only ever had very limited success with Saturn emulation and Yabause. It's going to be some time before Saturn emulation is perfected I reckon. Just a notoriously difficult system, with a very...
  15. Re: Castle of Illusion - beat using Kega Fusion

Yes, it comes as part of the awesome Retroarch package. I added the stable PPA to my Mint install from here. It's an amazing all-in package, the very best imho. :) There's a new update coming soon...
  16. Re: Castle of Illusion - beat using Kega Fusion

Fantastic game even now. I love the fact that you could sit with this game and beat it in one sitting. Or I could when I was a kid!

I adore the mega Drive so much. Such wonderful memories. Thank...
  17. Re: m64py front end to Mupen64plus path problems.

No, nothing like that. It's an older motherboard (Biostar MCP6P+).

Yes of course no problem. I wasn't looking for help.

Have now installed Kubuntu 14.04 on this desktop just fine. No hangs...
  19. Poll: Re: Share with us your Trusty (14.04) Upgrade & Installation Experiences

Spoke too soon. Terrific experience on the laptop, dreadful experience on my desktop. :(

I can't install it. The installer just freezes midway through. It locks up the desktop, locks up the mouse,...

Re: Share with us your Trusty (14.04) Upgrade & Installation Experiences

Thanks for that but I've already tried it. Doesn't work for me sadly on this laptop. Splash screen appears, then I get a crash and a signal 11 error if running from the terminal. :(
