I'm encountering an issue on Oneiric (running the classic Gnome profile plus Compiz) where all of my windows will randomly appear to become unresponsive to click events.

This is on a 8,3 Macbook running Oneiric:

In my case, it is slow regardless of open processes (straight from boot, even if I just open gEdit or terminals).

This may work:
Right-click the handle of your task manager panel item.
Select Preferences -> Window List Content -> Show windows from all workspaces
