Before my solution i reinstalled some libxine-* packages:

sudo apt-get --reinstall install phonon-backend-xine libxine1-plugins libxine1-all-plugins libxine1-xvdr
especially the last one seams...

Try switching to the playlist tab and then back to playback window - solved the issue for me temporarily.
