Hello,
Since php 5.3.2 I've been seeing deprecated warnings. I'm unable to suppress them.
I've tried setting error_reporting in:
/etc/php5/apache2/php.ini
to:
error_reporting = E_ALL &...
About 48 hours ago my Ubuntu One account stopped updating properly. When I save local files they either don't upload, or upload with the wrong name. When I try to view them via the web interface,...
Thank you both - the replies were extremely helpful :)
Hello!
I'm trying to learn some Regex... I've taken a few tutorials so far today and everything is working well and makes sense. I just have one question:
Is there some kind of "&" operator...
Is it possible to have Ubuntu mount external hard drives as a user instead of root?
I'm trying to share the contents via Samba, but I can't since it mounts to /media/drive as root by default.

Does Nautilus have some kind of abstraction layer that lets it take in all these gui settings without making changes to the actual filesystem? There's so many things that I'm supposed to know at this...
Yeah, just did the same thing. All is working now.
I'm still pretty new to Linux so I'm not entirely sure what's going on. For the heck of it, I tried using the gui to share the same folder after...
If you "share" a folder using gnome, Ubuntu asks you to install Samba. Makes sense.
However, the share created doesn't show up in:
/etc/samba/smb.conf
What's that all about? Can I manually...
Installed Jaunty.

/etc/init.d/networking restart
Everything worked perfectly.
Rebooted, no network.
I tried editing eth0 using the gnome gui interface (The...
Very odd. I've tried the gui (gnome) as well with the same results. Works fine until I reboot.
I'm running 8.10 at the moment, but I'll bump up to Jaunty tomorrow and let you know if the problem...
I've seen a lot of tutorials on how to switch to a static IP. They're all pretty much the same - things like this:
http://codesnippets.joyent.com/posts/show/319
They all work for me just fine...
Oddly enough, I've been using Vim for about a year now and I've never actually had to print anything with it before.
I looked up a couple generic how-to-print-from-vim tutorials with no success....
Is there:
A version of GNU Screen that supports vertical splits? (Besides that patch)
or
A version of Terminator that supports session states?
This problem seems to be plaguing me... I've installed 8.04 and 8.10 on a 3 different laptops and 3 different desktop computers now. All completely different hardware and all seem to have a similar...
I'm using an external 1600x1200 lcd monitor plugged into a Lenovo x300 laptop.
I can get an image, however, the highest resolution option I can get on the monitor is 1280x1024.
I'm using Intel...
Still says:
FATAL: Module snd_hda_intel is in use.
:(
'ello,
I have a Lenovo X300 and I'm trying to get the sound working in Hardy.
I've followed this guide successfully once (and about 15 failed formats/attempts after the last kernel update.)
...
Found the cause on another forum. The drive is Fat32, which only supports files up to 4gigs.
Ahh well...
I'm trying to download a 4.3gig torrent using Deluge. When the torrent gets to 92% an error pops up saying "torrent paused: disk write error, no storage for slot 16383".
My disk wasn't even close...
Let me rephrase this:
Is there any way to stop a process in ubuntu?
For example, in Windows I would hit "ctrl+alt+del", select "hda_snd_intel" and end the process.
Just one soundcard, in a lenovo x300, no dual boot.
Sound doesn't work by default in Hardy, but I've gone through a process to fix it several times successfully. Never had a problem until that...
Hokay, my sound stopped working randomly...
I'm trying to reinstall the alsa drivers, but I need to stop snd_hda_intel
This worked 2 weeks ago, but now it doesn't:

Let me just start by saying that my intention is not to be the guy who overreacts to a problem and then comes onto a forum and rants about it.
I have 3 laptops: a Dell, Gateway, and an IBM. All...
Has anyone ever got it scrolling? None of the conventional methods work...
