Folks,
This is not an Ubuntu issue but knowing the knowledge here hoping I get some advice as to how to get some details from a failed Bluetooth connection.
I have a Plantronics FITE 15 hands...
For anyone who may have a similar problem my system is now working perfectly.
Bearing in mind I have two separate Pi devices running miniDLNA and a router running a media server and none were...
Folks,
This is not Ubuntu related so I hope no-one minds my asking this question.
My main system is Ubuntu 18:04 running on a Toshiba laptop. I also occasionally run Debian, Mate and Arch on...
Folks,
Occasionally I'll use nmap to scan my network, normally it completes quite quickly but on occasions it'll take an eternity.
My latest scan was as follows;
nmap 192.168.1.0/24
if...
Indeed, whatever was suitable before should continue to be fine.

That is interesting.
I do run a few Raspberry Pi devices and was aware that memory could be allocated from CPU to GPU but wasn't sure how this was done.

Thanks folks, video editing is a fine art. Amazing the amount of options.
Generally use ffmpeg for simple editing just to reduce file size but handbrake is good.
Geoff
That makes sense.

Wasn't aware a laptop could have a separate video card. It is whatever is on the motherboard.

You are so right. I used a Raspberry Pi recently to create a WiFi router, ethernet connected to powerline adapter and the on board wifi becomes an AP on a different subnet. My main wifi router is a...
Thank you for prompt reply.
I ran VirtualMachine under Windows10 but seldom actually log on to Windows. Don't run it on Linux as BIOS doesn't allow virtualisation even though 64 bit machine ...
Folks,
When at home and using wifi analyzer on my mobile, every so often when I view the Access Point list a mystery MAC address appears. It has a question mark where the AP name normally is. It...
On a mobile if you use WiFi Analyzer you can walk around an area and see how the signal changes but that is in relation to Access Points. I'm guessing clients must have a measurable signal strength...
Folks,
Running 18:04 LTS
I have an old Epsom Perfection scanner attached to a Raspberry Pi computer.
Appreciate this is really an issue with my Raspberry Pi but as I am an Ubuntu user and...
There are some commands and utilities that show Access Point signal strength and quality,
sudo iwlist scan
sudo iwconfig
and some GUI apps but not sure how one can assess the quality of...
Thank you, I'll recheck my UUIDs against the device paths etc.
I never had a problem with Grub-legacy, easily able to install to disk or/and partitions, different image backdrops, menu lists...
Thank you for suggestion, I'll give that a try.
As mentioned, there is no data I need and even if I did manage to resurrect it doubt I'd trust it for anything so this is curiosity. If the disk...
I have exactly that (Different disk IDs naturally) but not the first line you show being cat /boot/efi/EFI/ubuntu/grub.cfg

Folks,
I have a suspect microSD card that is puzzling me.
It is formatted for a RaspberryPi with small fat32 partitions and a 7.5GB Ext4 partition.
I cannot seem to format this drive - that...
So bearing in mind without external drive connected it usually boots fine so then something must be over writing or deleting entries on the internal drive.
If at grub boot you press 'E' for edit...
Thank you for very quick reply.
Being a laptop the internal HD is not easily accessible. There is no HD compartment, all base screws need removing plus a spudger to remove case. Easy enough,...
Great article. Lot of scaremongering about computer security but much of it is hyped.

I don't think many people would realise they were on Linux as opposed to Windows - I think they use the term Windows like Hoover. An updated version of Word or Windows causes as much confusion as if...
Guess, as with industry, completion drives development.
I hardly ever use Windoz so can't comment on Edge, Firefox is my browser of choice but appreciate it is competition with Chrome and the old...
