Morbius: you are right. That worked, thanks. :) Is solving it that way the best way to do it, or would it be better to mount /media/MULTIBAY with different permissions? If so, what permissions would...

    [all variants] DLNA issues

I'm trying to set up Rhythmbox to act as a DLNA server, and I'm having some issues. I'm not sure if something isn't set up right, or if I have a fundamental misunderstanding of how DLNA works, but...

[ubuntu] Re: How to setup cron?

The script runs fine when running as root via sudo (i.e. "sudo <path to script>" performs the backup fine). It doesn't run fine when run as root via cron (i.e. putting <path to script> in "sudo...

[ubuntu] Re: How to setup cron?

Running the script with sudo produces no errors. Putting it in sudo crontab -e and letting cron run it produces this in the log:

[ubuntu] Re: How to setup cron?

Yeah, the user who scheduled the script has access to run the script. I didn't use sudo when calling either crontab or the script when I run it manually which, unless there's something I don't know...

[ubuntu] Re: How to setup cron?

Alekz, you misunderstand me - that's what I did. I have cron set to run /home/chair/bin/weekly_bak with the line:

However, the script executes as intended...

[all variants] Monitor won't get correct resolution

Hi, I have a CRT monitor that supports up to 1600x1200 @ 85Hz but I can't get it to work at that resolution in Linux. The highest it will let me go is 1440x900 and that is set up funky, too...
  19. [all variants] Re: What version of ubuntu to use with geforce 4200?

I tried running in safe graphics mode and the same thing happened. For what it's worth, the system has 1 gig of RAM and the card has (I believe) 64mb of RAM.
  20. [all variants] Re: What version of ubuntu to use with geforce 4200?

If it doesn't matter, what would be the best way of getting ubuntu running? Or are you saying I won't be able to because my card is old enough?
