Anyone using a Logitech G400 mouse? Does it work well on Ubuntu 12.04 and 12.10? How is the middle click?

I am going to buy a new mouse very soon. My Logitech MX 310, a really good mouse for me,...
  2. [ubuntu] Ubuntu 12.04 screen flashes on shutdown, can not boot Ubuntu/Windows on next boot.

I installed Ubuntu 10.10 through Wubi on a Macbook Pro 5,1 late 2008, a dual boot system running Snow Leopard and Windows XP SP3 using refit. I upgraded Ubuntu all the way to 12.04. However when I...
  3. [ubuntu] Re: How do you get moinmoin 1.9.3 to use python 2.6.x rather than 2.7.1?

From what I understand the ubuntu operating system is very dependent on python 2.7 and removing it would mess things up.
  4. [ubuntu] How do you get moinmoin 1.9.3 to use python 2.6.x rather than 2.7.1?

I am running Ubuntu Desktop 11.04 with the 11.04 server installed on top via tasksel. I keep getting "Unhandled Exception An unhandled exception was thrown by the application." when running moinmoin...

  6. Re: Is the PS3 other OS removal indication of Linux Steam client?

They said a security issue was the reason they removed the other os option. Like a security issue that allows access to the GPU? Access to the GPU in a post Steam Linux world? I suppose most of the...
  7. Re: Is the PS3 other OS removal indication of Linux Steam client?

I swear I looked for something like this before posting, obviously not well enough. It's recent though.

So I hope that geohot dude hooks this up on the TV.
  8. Is the PS3 other OS removal indication of Linux Steam client?

So Steam could have gone on to Ubuntu running on a PS3 and casually exposed the frailty of console hegemony (closed system context) in the living room. No GPU access, but I wonder what would still...
  9. [ubuntu] Re: If I upgrade Ubuntu will my server settings get messed up?

I agree so much. Like my old 600Mhz that ran Hardy Heron for about 2 years until it died.

But this is my desktop for everyday use. I want the Firefox 3.5 update. I've used Shiretoko but I want the...
  10. [ubuntu] If I upgrade Ubuntu will my server settings get messed up?

I am running Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty Jackelope with a lamp server installed (via tasksel) on top of it. If I upgrade to 9.10, will it wreck my settings for Apache? Will my server still be installed and...
  11. [ubuntu] Re: After editing Application menu I can not access desktop.

I logged into Failsafe Terminal session from the login screen, then ran gnome-panel. It worked and got me to see the GUI in the default look and feel. I was able to get this from the terminal after...
  12. [ubuntu] After editing Application menu I can not access desktop.

After renaming the default menus to what I want, added some of my own, and remove all excess items in all menus (the ones with no checkmarks), my computers only show a background wallpaper after...

When I log into KDE it shows the gray KDE background, then it pops to the orange Ubuntu background I was using in Gnome, then I'm stuck like before.

[SOLVED] Re: Can not get to the Desktop, no GUI.

I tried to kill ubunutone-client-applet and there was no process for it.

All I get at the desktop is a notification in the top right corner that Ubuntuone is updating, or even finished updating.

[SOLVED] Re: Can not get to the Desktop, no GUI.

I tried that, it doesn't work. The problem persists. Ubuntuone-client package has been removed but I still get stuck with no GUI, its weird. There is no ubuntuone process using top.

  19. Re: Computer boot/power stuck after thunderstorm, will not boot.

I figured, but I do not know how to confirm it.
  20. Re: Computer boot/power stuck after thunderstorm, will not boot.

Yeah I have put the HD in another computer, grabbed some files and then used Darik's Boot and Nuke (DBAN) to wipe it so I can sell or donate it.
  21. Re: Computer boot/power stuck after thunderstorm, will not boot.

Yes it has been unplugged from the main source. I also popped out the little battery inside and put it back in.
  22. Computer boot/power stuck after thunderstorm, will not boot.

During a thunderstorm our power was fluctionating causing the lights to flicker. It also happened when I was shutting down my old 600Mhz Celeron VAIO runnng Ubuntu 8.04 server, the computer lost and...
  23. Re: What is a more stable backup method, USB hard drive or FTP over a LAN?

Great responses from everyone. I'll save this thread and refer to it in the future about rsync and SFTP, great stuff. Thanks.
  24. Re: What is a more stable backup method, USB hard drive or FTP over a LAN?

This is what I planned on doing, having a backup of the backup. I have also learned that lowering my consumption of downloadable content makes things easier. You know don't create work for yourself.
  25. Re: What is a more stable backup method, USB hard drive or FTP over a LAN?

So if I transfer a file through FTP as an ASCII but it was a file type that required binary haven't I ruined the file? This is the case on the web at least. I have to make sure that when the files...
