  1. [ubuntu] Re: HDD/SSD cloning so that OS distinguished between the two drives

GParted has an option for changing partition UUID's. You need to confirm that the UUID's shown in /etc/fstab and /boot/grub/grub.cfg match the new UUID.
  2. Re: Mount Additionnal Drive at Startup from Persistent USB Key Boot.

If you select "Write in ISO Image mode", (not dd image mode), Rufus extracts the ISO to USB as individual files. You should be able to modify these files booting from a second Live USB or from...
  3. [SOLVED] Re: Bootable USB for Windows 10 using UNetbootin

Maybe I was doing something wrong with Ventoy, but the Windows installers I create will only install Windows for UEFI mode. They will not install for legacy, (BIOS), mode.
    If you need Legacy Windows...
  4. [ubuntu] Re: installing ubuntu onto other drive partitions

    tea for one

    Nice checklist.

The only thing I would add is to use Windows Disk Management to make new space for the Ubuntu partition and not GParted.

It will work on both BIOS and UEFI computers.

[SOLVED] Re: persistent Xubuntu via Rufus

    Eliminating Try/Install screen:

Remove maybe-ubiquity from the /boot/grub/grub.cfg file.
With Rufus you can do this from Windows or from a second Ubuntu Live USB, not from the running Rufus USB.
  8. [ubuntu] Re: How can I remove ubuntu and install an iso without usb or cd?

August 24th I used the method shown at this link: https://askubuntu.com/a/1359829/43926
I had no problems and the USB booted right up.
I was using Legacy boot also.
I do not know why you are...
  9. [ubuntu] Re: How can I remove ubuntu and install an iso without usb or cd?

You need a USB device at least 8GB in size. (The one I use for installing Windows is 16 GB).

    Win10_20H2_English_x64.iso is over 6GB.

It looks to me like your USB is too small.

    I am not...

    Re: Ventoy persistent storage

What sort of worked for me was to start with the method from Post #6 above and copy /EFI/BOOT from the ISO to sdx1 overwriting /efi/boot.

This gives three options when booting from a computer with...

Did you look at my answer on that page?

  21. Re: USB has no login screen on live persistence

If running in persistent mode you can go to Settings/Users and create a new user with password.
You can set Ubuntu to ask for the password at boot.
  22. Re: boot: prompt brick wall, and best multi boot live iso tool?

  23. [ubuntu] Re: Installing ubuntu on NTFS USB drive.
